OSRS Grid Master Hunter Training Guide | Fastest Hunter XP

OSRS Grid Master Hunter Training Guide | Fastest Hunter XP
Old School RuneScape (OSRS)

Hunter in Grid Master can feel slow early on, but the right relic setup turns it into a passive XP source that runs itself. With Animal Wrangler linked correctly, you can gain levels in Hunter, Agility, and Slayer at the same time.

How to Unlock and Link Hunter

Unlock the Animal Wrangler scroll by finishing Stronghold of Security for Fairy’s Flight. Use it to teleport to Gnome Stronghold and throw a gnomeball to get Sage’s Greaves. Then teleport to Kastori North and defeat the Gemstone Crab to earn the Animal Wrangler scroll.

Link the scroll to Agility, Slayer, and Hunter for steady XP across all three. Animal Wrangler also boosts Fishing and Cooking, so it’s a great long-term relic to keep active.

How to Train Hunter in Grid Master

Once the link is active, you can AFK train near Lumbridge by running laps or just staying mobile. Sage’s Greaves grant passive Agility XP while Animal Wrangler shares XP with Hunter and Slayer. It’s slow but effortless, and perfect to leave running while multitasking.

If you prefer active training, traditional Hunter methods still work. They’re faster but need more input.

Best Hunter Training Methods

Bird Snares (1–29)

Place traps around Varrock or Feldip Hills. These levels go fast and give early Hunter XP to unlock better traps.

Box Traps (29–63)

Catch chinchompas for faster XP and profit. Great middle ground for training if you want to be hands-on.

Red Chinchompas (63–99)

Best XP and profit combo. Works well even without relic boosts, but faster when linked with Animal Wrangler.

Herbiboar (80+)

Optional method for variety and Hunter pet chances. Good XP, just not as AFK friendly.

Recommended Relic and Link Setups

The most efficient combo is:

  • Combatant with Prayer, Ranged, and Strength

  • Gatherer with Thieving, Hunter, and Slayer

  • Craftsman with Construction, Fletching, and Herblore

Thieving trains fast in Gridmaster and gives shared XP to any skills linked with Gatherer, which makes Hunter climb faster without extra effort. If you want faster Agility for Sepulchre, you can swap Hunter for it temporarily.

Extra Tips

  • Equip Sage’s Greaves to gain passive Agility XP while running

  • Keep Hunter linked while doing other skills for background XP

  • Slayer benefits from the same link, giving even more passive XP

  • If you unlink Hunter later, make sure to reattach it before AFK training

Final Blurb

Hunter becomes a free skill in Grid Master once Animal Wrangler is active. You’ll gain XP while walking, training Slayer, or even idling near Lumbridge. Whether you’re going hands-off or chasing pets, the setup keeps progress rolling nonstop.
