OSRS Leagues 6 Fishing Training Guide

OSRS Leagues 6 Fishing Training Guide

Fishing is one of the easier skills to get rolling in OSRS Leagues 6, but Varlamore throws people off when they do not know the map yet. The good news is the start is already there. You can fish right away, get your early levels out of the way, and then move into the stronger methods once your relics and region picks begin opening the better routes.

Best Fishing Start In Varlamore

At level 1 Fishing in OSRS Leagues 6, the best Varlamore starting spots are the Fortis pond area and the shrimp and anchovy spots on the southeast side of Civitas illa Fortis. Varlamore already has standard fishing spots around its coasts and rivers, and it also has 2 fishing shops selling basic gear and bait, so there is no real block at the start.

This is mostly a map knowledge problem, not a progression problem. Older regions are easy to navigate from memory, while Varlamore still sends a lot of people running in circles for their first few levels. Once the map is open, the fishing icons help a lot because you can hover them and see what each spot gives.

For the opening stretch, the play is simple. Get your basic setup, hit one of those beginner spots, and push through the early levels without trying to force some fancy route before the account is ready for it.

Best Early Fishing Training In Leagues 6

The best early Fishing training in OSRS Leagues 6 is to use the easy Varlamore starter spots first, then swap into better region methods as soon as your unlocks support them.

The first few levels are just there to get you moving. After that, Fishing quickly becomes a skill shaped by your build. The guide path for Leagues calls out fly fishing at 20 Fishing, Tempoross at 35 with Desert, barbarian fishing at 48 with Kandarin, monkfish at 62 with Kandarin, karambwan at 65 with Karamja, infernal eels at 80 with the right requirements, minnows at 82 with Kandarin, dark crabs at 85 in Wilderness, and sacred eels at 87 in Tirannwn.

That is why the early Varlamore route should be treated like a launch point, not the full plan. You get the skill online there, then hand it off to whichever region route gives your account the most value.

Best Fishing Methods By Region

Fishing gets much better once your unlocks start lining up with the right methods.

Kandarin is one of the strongest regions for Fishing progression because it opens barbarian fishing, monkfish, several fishing shops, and later the Fishing cape. Barbarian fishing is especially nice in Leagues because it does more than just train Fishing. It also feeds Agility and Strength, which gives the time spent there a lot more value than a normal food grind.

Desert is a strong early pivot because Tempoross opens at 35 Fishing. If the run is already leaning that way, it can be one of the cleanest jumps out of the early game. Karamja gets important at 65 Fishing for karambwan, and the karambwan spot north of fairy ring DKP never moves, which makes that method a lot smoother. Later on, Tirannwn opens sacred eels and Wilderness opens dark crabs if the diary requirement is covered.

So the best Fishing method is not one fixed answer for every player. It depends on what the account is actually doing. Some runs want broad utility, some want food, and some just want the fastest clean route into later progression.

Best Relics For Fishing

Relics do a lot of the heavy lifting for Fishing in Leagues 6 (See our relics tier list here).

Endless Harvest is one of the strongest Fishing relics because it lets you keep gathering from spots even if they would normally deplete after the first interaction. It also doubles gathered resources, gives XP for those extra resources, and can bank them automatically if the toggle is on. That makes the whole skill feel smoother almost immediately.

Barbarian Gathering is another big one. It lets you fish barehanded as if using a crystal harpoon while harpooning, gives an extra success roll after failed catches, adds 10 percent of Fishing XP into Strength and Agility, and includes a knapsack for storing raw and cooked fish. If your run likes skills that pull double duty, this relic feels great.

Abundance gives a permanent +10 Fishing boost, which is simple but very useful for reaching methods earlier. Hotfoot can auto cook fish while the searing boots are equipped, which is a nice quality of life gain for food heavy routes. Butler’s Bell can also bring in fish as resources while offline, though there is no XP attached to that part.

Varlamore Fishing Shops And Boosts

Varlamore does a solid job supporting the skill beyond just the first few levels.

Picaria’s Fishing Shop in Sunset Coast and Sulisal’s Superb Fishing Store in Kastori have identical stock. They sell standard fishing equipment, bait, and a small amount of raw fish. That means the region can cover your basic setup without needing an early detour into somewhere more familiar.

Varlamore also gives access to a few temporary Fishing boosts. Fishing potion gives +3 and requires 50 Herblore. Fish pie also gives +3 and can be bought from Yarnio’s Baked Goods in Cam Torum, while admiral pie gives +5 with 70 Cooking.

Those boosts are easy to overlook, but in Leagues they can help get a method online a little sooner, which is often all you need.

A Clean Fishing Route For Most Runs

The easiest way to handle Fishing in Leagues 6 is to break it into phases instead of trying to solve the whole skill from level 1.

Start in Varlamore at Fortis pond or the southeast Civitas illa Fortis spots to get the skill moving. Once 20 Fishing is available, move into fly fishing if that fits the route. From there, shift into the stronger region method your account is built around, usually something like Tempoross, barbarian fishing, monkfish, or karambwan depending on what has been unlocked.

That flow keeps the early game simple and gets you into the more rewarding methods faster, which is where Leagues Fishing starts feeling a lot better.

Final Blurb

Fishing in OSRS Leagues 6 is straightforward once you stop treating Varlamore like some strange special case. You can start there at level 1, get through the early grind without much trouble, and then move into the real training methods once your regions and relics begin opening them up. The early spots do their job, but the best part of the skill comes later when Fishing starts feeding the rest of the account instead of just being a slow opener.
