OSRS Varlamore Jellies Guide: Where To Find Chilled Jelly

Getting assigned jellies in Varlamore during OSRS Leagues 6 throws a lot of people off at first. It looks like the region does not have them, and the task feels like a mistake until you realize the game is pointing you somewhere specific.

Where To Find Jellies In Varlamore (Map included below)

Jellies in Varlamore are found as Chilled jellies inside the Ruins of Tapoyauik, unlocked after completing The Heart of Darkness. See the map below.

They are not part of the open world, which is why they feel “missing” when you first get the task. You only gain access to them once the dungeon opens up through quest progression. Once unlocked, you will find them on the bottom floor of the Ruins of Tapoyauik, close to the lift area that drops you into the dungeon.

This is the only place in Varlamore where jellies exist, so if you have not done the quest yet, there is nothing to kill and the task is effectively blocked.

Why You Got A Jelly Task In Varlamore

This comes down to how Slayer categories work.

The game does not assign “Varlamore jellies” specifically. It assigns the jelly category, and Chilled jellies count as part of that group. So even if the wiki or your memory says Varlamore has no jellies, the task is still valid because these variants exist in the region.

The confusion happens because:

  • They are locked behind a quest

  • They are not visible before unlocking the dungeon

  • They are named differently

Once you connect those dots, the task makes sense.

How To Unlock Chilled Jellies

You need to progress through The Heart of Darkness to access the Ruins of Tapoyauik. Before that point, the dungeon is not available and you cannot reach the jellies at all.

After finishing the quest, the dungeon opens fully and becomes a permanent Slayer location with multiple monster types, including Chilled jellies.

There is no workaround here. If you get the task early, you either:

  • Progress the quest to unlock them

  • Skip the task

Combat Tips For Chilled Jellies

Chilled jellies are straightforward once you reach them, but there are a few things worth knowing that make the task faster and smoother.

  • They require 52 Slayer

  • They use a magical melee attack style

  • Protect from Melee completely blocks their damage

  • They have a 50 percent weakness to fire spells

You can fight them normally with melee, but using fire spells speeds things up noticeably because of that weakness.

There is also a simple safespot using the icicles nearby, which lets you range or mage them without taking damage if you do not want to pray.

What Makes Varlamore Jellies Worth Doing

These are certainly not filler Slayer mobs. They drop frozen tears and moon key pieces, both tied to other Varlamore systems. While you are doing your task, you are also progressing those systems at the same time, which makes the grind feel more efficient.

Compared to standard jellies, they also drop decent mid tier loot like runes, rune items, and hard clue scrolls, so the kills never feel wasted.

What Happens If You Ignore The Task

If you skip unlocking them, you are effectively cutting off a Slayer option inside Varlamore. That might not seem important early, but once you are staying in-region and trying to optimize tasks, having access to every valid monster pool gives you more flexibility and smoother progression.

Skipping once is fine. Ignoring the unlock entirely just limits your options later.

Final Blurb

Jellies in Varlamore exist, but they are hidden behind quest progression, which is why the task feels confusing at first. Once the Ruins of Tapoyauik are unlocked, everything clicks into place. The task becomes easy, the location is compact, and the drops tie into the rest of the region’s systems.
