How To Change Your Boat Name
You unlock proper boat renaming at around level 60 Sailing. Once you reach that level, you can talk to the rename NPC you encounter during your sea adventure. They reroll a fresh auto generated name for your boat without deleting it or removing upgrades.
How Boat Naming Works
Boat names are created by combining a prefix and a suffix. The game rolls one of each when you get your first raft or when you create a new ship. Some names come out epic, others sound like cursed memes, but before level 60 you cannot freely change any of them.
If you want a new boat name before level 60, the only option is to destroy your ship at a shipwright (for more info, see our guide on how to delete boats). This deletes the boat and lets you buy a brand new one with a fresh randomly generated name. Your old upgrades and facilities do not transfer. Your new boat starts clean with a new name.
Once you unlock the rename NPC, the system becomes simple. You can reroll names as many times as you want. You still cannot type a custom name. The generator always uses the official word list for both parts.
