Boat paint lets you change the trim color of your ship, and this guide shows exactly how to use it once you unlock the right levels.
How To Use Boat Paint in OSRS
To use paint, upgrade to a skiff or higher boat, then go to any shipyard and open the boat schematics board. Select the trim slot, choose the paint you want, and apply it. You need at least 25 Sailing and 20 Construction to paint trims.
How Boat Paint Works
Paint items drop from port tasks starting at level 1. Shark paint is the most common, but higher tiers like barracuda paint or god paints unlock stronger cosmetic options. All paint is cosmetic only. It does not change speed or stats.
Your raft cannot hold paint because it has no trim option. You must upgrade to a skiff or any higher ship class before the paint slot becomes available.
Once your boat is eligible, the trim section appears on the schematics board in the shipyard. You must stand inside the shipyard to apply paint. Paint is consumed when used, so each bottle is a single application.
Different paint colors include:
shark paint (grey)
barracuda paint (blue)
angler paint (pink)
inky paint (black)
salvor paint (dark green)
sandy paint (tan)
armadylean paint (beige)
guthixian paint (green)
saradominist paint (blue)
zamorakian paint (red)
merchant paint (gold)
Each one gives a different trim look.
Final Blurb
Boat paint is simple once you reach the right ship tier. Upgrade to a skiff, open the schematics board, use the trim option, and apply the paint you want. It is an easy way to make your ship look clean while leveling across the seas.
