Several food items in the game PEAK can be cooked at a campfire to restore more hunger or complete achievements. Only a few items have confirmed cooking effects.

Items You Can Cook

Coconut Halves – throw to break, then cook

Coconuts are found in Shore and Tropics. Throw one to split it, then cook the halves before eating. Required for the Gourmand Badge.

Eggs – crack open and cook

Eggs spawn in bird nests in Caldera. Throw the egg to break it open, then cook it at a campfire. Needed for the Gourmand Badge.

Honeycomb – break hive, then cook

Beehives are found in trees in the Tropics. Throw the hive to get honeycomb pieces, then cook them. Also required for the Gourmand Badge.

Marshmallows – cook to restore more hunger

You can cook marshmallows at any campfire. They are safe to eat raw but work better cooked. They do not count as packaged food.

Yellow Winterberry – cook before eating

Yellow Winterberries spawn in Alpine, usually near the capybara hot spring. Must be cooked before eating to complete the Gourmand Badge.

Cooking Mechanics in PEAK

How cooking works

Hold 'E' at a campfire or portable stove to cook. The first cook increases the food’s hunger restoration by 60-70 percent.

What happens if you cook too much

Cooking an item a second time cancels the bonus and returns it to normal. Cook it a third time and it becomes burned. Burned food poisons you if eaten.

Where to cook

Any campfire will work, including the one on the airplane wing at the start of the game. Portable stoves also work if you find one in a luggage cache.

Bonus Info: Packaged vs Fresh Food

Some players avoid packaged food entirely to unlock an achievement and reward. If you complete a climb without eating any processed food, you earn a cosmetic hat. Cooked marshmallows still count as non-packaged.

Foods You Should Not Cook

  • Green Berries – Often poisonous even when raw. Cooking doesn’t remove the poison.

  • Purple Mushrooms – Can still be toxic even when cooked. Not needed for any badge, avoid unless desperate.

Final Blurb

Cooking in PEAK is simple but can be pretty important, so get those fires going, fill those bellies, and climb like your life depends on it!
