How to Get a Decoder in ROB RUN
The easiest confirmed way to get a Decoder in ROB RUN is through the free reward on page 3 of the Season 1: Pure Chemistry Battle Pass. This gives you an Uncommon Decoder without needing to purchase one or gather materials for a trade.
The reward is available until December 4, 2026, so make sure to claim it before the season ends. An Uncommon Decoder has 1 Breaching, making it useful for weakening another player's base defenses.
If you want a stronger Epic Decoder, you can obtain one through Lenny's barter system using either Uncommon Decoders or a filled Epic Action Camera.
How to Get an Epic Decoder in ROB RUN
To obtain an Epic Decoder, travel to Lenny's Motel using the global map. Once inside, find the Suspicious Door on the right and access the barter trader behind it.
There are two confirmed recipes for an Epic Decoder:
- 3 Uncommon Decoders + $10,000 Cash.
- 1 filled Epic Action Camera.
The first recipe is straightforward if you've already collected enough Uncommon Decoders. The second requires considerably more preparation, but it provides another option if you don't have the necessary Decoders to exchange.
Getting an Epic Decoder With an Action Camera
To use the camera method, you need an Epic Action Camera obtained through the Tier II Trade Laptop progression. This involves unlocking an earlier camera, completing $35,000 worth of GADGETS research at Larry's Tree, and purchasing the Epic camera for $30,000.
Once you have the camera, reach Notoriety Level 3 and fill it to 70 points through qualifying criminal activities, including lockpicking, opening safes, and theft. You can then exchange the filled camera for an Epic Decoder at Lenny's barter trader.
What Is the Best Way to Get a Decoder?
I'd recommend starting with the free Battle Pass reward before investing in the more expensive methods. An important detail is that three Uncommon Decoders provide a combined Breaching value of 3, which matches a single Epic Decoder.
That means exchanging three Uncommon Decoders plus $10,000 doesn't increase their total Breaching value. Instead, it concentrates that value into one device, which can be useful when attacking a more heavily defended Security System.
For weaker defenses, keeping your Uncommon Decoders may be more economical than immediately exchanging them. Every Decoder is consumed after use, and the number required depends on the Fuses installed in the target building.
The Epic Decoder has 3 Breaching and takes 12 seconds to use. Once a Security System is fully breached, it grants temporary access to the building, although the owner can repair the system to lock intruders out again.
Finally, while Legendary Decoders appear in the game's item data, there is currently no confirmed method of obtaining one. For now, the free Uncommon reward and Lenny's Epic Decoder barter recipes are the documented acquisition options worth pursuing.
