Sonic Racing CrossWorlds All Items List & Guide
Sonic Racing CrossWorlds has a wide selection of items that can turn the tide of a race in seconds. From boosts that speed you up to traps that punish rivals, every item has a role. Knowing how each one works is the difference between leading the pack or falling behind.
How To Use Items
Items are used by pressing a single button depending on your platform: LB on Xbox, L1 on PlayStation, Q on PC, and L on Switch. Some items can be aimed ahead or behind by using the Left Stick. Normally you can hold two items, but the Inventory Plus Gadget raises this to three. Inventory Swap lets you change their order.
All Items in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds
Bomb
Launches a bomb in a straight line that grows in size and power the longer it is charged. Best used on straights and wide tracks.
Bonus Ring
Grants the number of Rings shown on the icon. Rings increase maximum speed.
Boost
Gives a short burst of speed. Most useful on straights or off-road shortcuts.
Dark Chao
Forces every racer to receive a new item. If you already have something you don’t want, this redraws it.
Drill
Transforms you into a drill that automatically moves toward the finish line. Comparable to Bullet Bill in Mario Kart.
Homing Punch
Fires a homing attack at the racer ahead. Can also be thrown behind or used to block projectiles.
King Boom Boo
Targets the racer in 1st place with a large wave that spins them out. Can hit nearby racers too.
Laser
Turns you into a laser, dashing forward along a set path. Works best when aimed at tight curves to extend the duration.
Magnet
Places a hazard that draws in nearby racers and slows them down. Can be thrown ahead or behind.
Monster Truck
Transforms your Machine into a large truck that crushes opponents and blocks attacks. Best used when surrounded.
Omochao
Drops a trail of Rings behind you. Collect them to raise max speed, even off-road.
Rocket Punch
Fires a straight punch that bounces off walls and locks onto targets when aimed.
Shield
Protects against all incoming attacks for a short time. Also makes collisions more favorable.
Slicer
Locks onto the racer ahead, slices their Machine, and forces them to drop an item.
Slime
Covers all racers’ screens, slowing them and making them drop items. Can be cleared by rotating the stick.
Spiked Iron Ball
Places a rolling hazard on the track. Works best at chokepoints and can block some low projectiles.
Tornado
Surrounds you with a tornado that damages enemies and blocks many items except King Boom Boo.
Triple Boost
Gives three boosts, with the last being the strongest. Save the crown-marked final burst for big shortcuts.
Triple Homing Punch
Three uses of Homing Punch. Save one for defense.
Triple Rocket Punch
Three uses of Rocket Punch. Avoid spamming all at once.
Void
Creates a field that sucks in Rings and item boxes, while blocking some attacks.
Weight
Drops heavy weights on the racers in 1st and 2nd place, making them lose speed and items.
Gadget-Only Items
Double Boost
Provides two boosts. Only appears when using the Double Boost Specialist Gadget.
Warp Ring
Teleports you forward and crushes the next racer. Only appears with the Warp Ring Specialist Gadget.
Tips For Using Items
Boosts and Triple Boosts are strongest on straights and shortcuts.
Defensive items like Shield, Tornado, and Monster Truck should be saved for incoming attacks.
Hazards such as Spiked Iron Ball and Magnet work best in narrow tracks or after item boxes.
King Boom Boo and Weight punish leaders, making them powerful catch-up tools.
Final Blurb
Items in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds create constant chaos and strategy in every race. Learning what each item does, when to use it, and how to counter it will give you a major edge. Whether you’re boosting through shortcuts, blocking attacks with Shield, or punishing the leader with King Boom Boo, mastering items is just as important as racing skill.
