Tips and Tricks for The First Berserker: Khazan

The First Berserker: Khazan throws you into a brutal world full of giant swords, moody ghosts, and enemies that want you dead before the tutorial ends. But here’s the good news: it doesn’t have to be miserable.
Below are the key tips, tricks, and hidden systems that'll make your early game a whole lot less painful.
1. Yes, There’s an Easy Mode – Use It if You Want
After a few deaths, the game kindly offers to tone things down. You can:
Switch to Easy Mode (reduced enemy damage + faster stamina recovery).
But be warned: you can’t switch back to Normal without restarting your save.
Don’t let internet tough guys bully you—use it if you want to actually finish the game before retirement.
2. Dying to Bosses Still Gives XP
Every time you fight a main boss, you earn Lacrima based on how long you lasted.
That means:
You’re always getting stronger, even while failing.
The more phases you survive, the more Lacrima you earn.
You can collect it outside the boss arena after each fight—don’t forget to spend it!
When your Lacrima bar in the top right turns yellow, you’ve got enough for a level-up.
3. Learn to Brink Guard and Reflect Like a Pro
Brink Guard = block at the right time → drain enemy Fortitude bar.
Brink Dodge = dodge just before the hit → reposition and strike back.
Reflection (found in the common skill tree) = parry move that destroys bosses if you nail the timing.
Two or three good Reflections can break even tough enemies.
Reflection is high risk, high reward—but it’s worth learning.
4. Prioritize These Stats and Skills Early
Endurance is king. You need stamina more than you need health.
Weapon Scaling is big:
Dual Wield → Willpower
Spear → Proficiency
Greatsword → Strength
Only level Vitality early if you’re really struggling to survive.
And don’t be afraid to respec—Primeval Regression Orbs let you reset your levels. You get at least one for free, and you can buy three more early on.
5. Special Skills & Spirit Abilities Are Strong (Eventually)
Look for Command skills in your tree—these are mapped to shortcuts and cost Spirit.
Don’t spread points across too many trees. Pick one skill path and max it out.
Whirlwind (for dual wield) can even be used for ledge-hopping.
6. Don’t Rely on Summons—Yet
Spirits of Advocacy (summons) aren’t great right now. They die fast, rarely draw aggro.
But to use them:
Defeat Revenants of Adversity (mini-bosses in the world).
Get Lacrima of Circulation from them.
Use it at the Spirit Rift outside boss arenas to summon during fights.
If you don’t want to summon, feel free to ignore these encounters entirely.
7. Codex = Free Loot and Stat Buffs (If You Remember It Exists)
The Codex tracks enemy types, quests, and NPCs.
You have to manually collect your quest rewards here—so check back often.
Fully exploring an area fills in its Codex page and gives you Vengeance Points, which you can spend to boost passives like:
Stamina Damage
Flat Damage
Damage Multipliers
Final Blurb
The First Berserker: Khazan might look like just another Souls-like, but under all the gloom is a surprisingly flexible system that rewards exploration, aggression, and sometimes just refusing to give up. Learn to parry, hoard that Lacrima, and don’t forget: the Codex is your best friend (even if the game pretends it isn’t).
