Vampire Crawlers does not hand you every stage from the start. The map expands as you hit specific milestones, finish runs, and in one case, take down a specific boss mid-run. Here is every stage and exactly what you need to open it.
Every Vampire Crawlers Stage Unlock Requirement
There are 13 stages in Vampire Crawlers, each with its own unlock condition ranging from finishing a run in the previous zone to hitting a level threshold or defeating a specific enemy.

Mad Forest is your starting stage and requires nothing to access. Every other stage branches off from there through completions and level milestones.

How the Stage Unlock Structure Actually Works
The progression splits into several tracks rather than one clean linear path. Finishing Mad Forest opens Furious Forest. Reaching Level 10 inside Mad Forest opens Inlaid Library. Those are two separate unlocks from the same starting zone, and they lead into entirely different stage chains.
The Library chain runs through Inlaid Library, Library West Wing, and Library Sanctum. The Bridge chain runs through Teeny Bridge, Dairy Plant, Weeny Bridge, and Gallo Tower before continuing into Meany Bridge and the Cappella stages. Berserk Wood sits as a branch off Furious Forest. Curd Refinery requires finishing Milk Factory, which is its own condition outside the main chain.
Understanding this branching structure matters because players often assume they need to follow one path. You can be progressing multiple chains at the same time depending on which stages you are clearing.
The Difference Between Level Milestones and Run Completions
Most stages unlock by finishing a run, but four of them use level thresholds instead. Reaching Level 10 in Mad Forest opens Inlaid Library. Reaching Level 15 in Inlaid Library opens Teeny Bridge. Reaching Level 15 in Dairy Plant opens Weeny Bridge.
These unlock without finishing the run. You can hit the required level and die immediately after, and the stage will still flag as unlocked. This is worth knowing because it means you do not need a strong enough build to survive the full run, only enough to push your level high enough inside that zone.

Meany Bridge Is the Odd One Out
Every stage unlocks through a run completion or level milestone except Meany Bridge. To open it, you have to defeat the Giant Enemy Crab during a Gallo Tower run. Finishing Gallo Tower alone does not trigger the unlock. The crab has to go down specifically.
If you have cleared Gallo Tower and Meany Bridge is still locked, the crab is the reason. Go back into Gallo Tower and make sure you are dealing with it before the run ends.
Curd Refinery and the Milk Factory Condition
Curd Refinery sits slightly outside the main progression chain because it unlocks through Milk Factory rather than any of the stages listed above. Milk Factory is not shown in the unlock table as a stage you work toward through normal progression, because if Curd Refinery is locked and you cannot figure out why, the answer is that Milk Factory needs to be finished first regardless of how many other stages you have cleared
