Rearranging your house in World of Warcraft is easy once you know how to pick things up properly. The housing editor lets you move or remove any item at any time, but there’s one small bug that can make the process confusing.
Removing Decor
To remove an item, go into Decor Mode from your Housing Dashboard or the in-game housing menu. Hover over the object you want to pick up and look at the control list on the right side of your screen. You’ll see a Remove or Pick Up option listed. Press that key to remove the item from your layout.
Once removed, the decor goes straight back into your House Chest. Nothing gets destroyed or lost, so you can freely move items around or clear whole rooms without penalty.
The R Key Bug
If you can’t remove decor, the issue might be your keybinds. By default, the Remove Decor action uses the R key. If you’ve already bound R to another ability, like an interrupt or mount, the game won’t recognize it inside Decor Mode.
To fix it, open your keybind settings and unbind or reassign the R key to something else. Then re-enter Decor Mode and try removing decor again. The option will work normally once the key is free.
