Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced: How to Get the First Treasure Map
The first treasure map in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is the Cape Bonavista Treasure Map. You will pass near it during the opening tutorial while chasing the Assassin, but you cannot collect it right away because the path is blocked during that early sequence.
To get it, return to Cape Bonavista later after fast travel unlocks, head to the southeast side of the area, follow the newly accessible path, and loot the skeleton on the ground. The map points to a treasure at coordinates 146, 587, hidden inside a cave near the southern viewpoint.
First Treasure Map Location
The first treasure map is found in Cape Bonavista, the opening island from the early tutorial section. The map itself is on a skeleton in the southeast part of the area, past a path that is not available when you first pass through.
This is the part that makes the collectible a little misleading. The game lets you see treasure map and collectible icons early, but it does not actually give you full access to the route yet. So if you saw the icon during the tutorial and could not figure out how to reach it, you were not missing a hidden jump or a painfully specific climb. The game was simply not ready to let you have it.
Why You Cannot Get It During the Tutorial
You cannot get the Cape Bonavista Treasure Map the first time you see it because the tutorial path is locked while you are chasing the Assassin. During that section, the game is pushing you through a specific route rather than letting you fully explore the island.
Come back later once fast travel is available and Cape Bonavista can be revisited properly. At that point, the blocked route opens up and you can reach the skeleton holding the map.

How to Reach the Treasure Map
After fast travel unlocks, return to Cape Bonavista and head toward the southeast side of the region. The easiest approach is to fast travel to one of the viewpoints, then move toward the unlocked path near the southeast section of the island.
Follow the route forward and climb through the platforms until you reach the area with bodies lying around. Edward will comment on the scene as you move through, which is a good sign that you are on the correct path and not just wandering into another scenic pirate problem.
Keep following the only available path until you find a skeleton on the ground. Interact with the skeleton to pick up the Cape Bonavista Treasure Map.

Where to Dig Up the Treasure
The Cape Bonavista Treasure Map points to coordinates 146, 587. The drawing leads you to a cave near the southern side of Cape Bonavista.
To reach the dig spot, fast travel to the southern viewpoint in Cape Bonavista, then jump into the water and turn right after getting out. Look for the cave entrance nearby and head inside.
The treasure is buried by a small pond inside the cave, near flowers and a turtle. Walk around the pond until the dig prompt appears, then interact to uncover the chest.

First Treasure Map Reward
The first treasure map chest rewards 1,500 Reales. It is not a massive payout compared to later upgrades and treasure hunts, but it is a useful early boost, especially when you are starting to spend money on equipment, ship upgrades, and other progression systems.
The bigger value is learning how treasure maps work. You find the map first, read the drawing and coordinates, then locate the matching spot in the world and dig when the prompt appears. Once you understand that rhythm, later treasure maps become much easier to solve without blindly running in circles like Edward has misplaced both a shovel and his dignity.
After you pick up the reward, it is worth continuing to synchronize viewpoints and revisit islands as new paths open. Treasure maps often depend on recognizing specific landmarks, and fast travel makes cleanup much less annoying once the Caribbean starts filling out.
