Avowed: How to Get One Last Trick

One Last Trick is a unique weapon in Avowed that you can earn during the Steel Resolve side quest. Depending on how much you’re willing to bend the truth, you’ll either walk away with the base version or the stronger One Last Trick +1. If you want the best version, you might have to throw an innocent man under the bus—but hey, that’s just how things work in the Living Lands.
Where to Find One Last Trick
This weapon is tied to the Steel Resolve side quest, where you’re supposed to free a ranger, investigate a missing one, and uncover a traitor. The quest eventually leads you to Ranger Dorso, who turns out to be the mastermind behind it all. Once you track her down near the waterfall at the Wildwoods Outskirts Party Camp, you’ll have a few choices—and only one of them gives you the best version of the weapon.
How to Get One Last Trick
When you finally confront Dorso, she will try to justify her actions. What you decide to do next determines whether you get One Last Trick or One Last Trick +1.
Option 1: Help Dorso and Frame Casagrada (Best Version)
If you decide that honesty is overrated, you can help Dorso and blame Casagrada for everything.
She’ll tell you to report back to Captain Acierno and lie through your teeth.
Acierno, who is either very trusting or very gullible, will believe you.
As thanks for your service, he rewards you with One Last Trick +1, the best version of the weapon.
Option 2: Tell the Truth, But Spare Dorso
If you reveal that Dorso is the real traitor but decide to let her go, Acierno is understandably disappointed.
He still gives you One Last Trick, but it’s the standard version. Not terrible, but not great either.
Option 3: Kill Dorso (Justice, but No Bonus)
If you take the straightforward approach and attack Dorso, she’ll put up a fight before going down.
You can loot her body for some decent gear.
When you report back to Acierno with the truth, he rewards you with the base version of One Last Trick, but without the upgrade. Turns out, doing the right thing isn’t always the most profitable option.
Which Choice Is Best?
If you want the strongest version (One Last Trick +1), you have to help Dorso and frame Casagrada. Morality is optional.
If you want to be a decent person but still get the weapon, spare Dorso and tell the truth.
If you believe in justice, kill Dorso and take the base version of the weapon. You’ll feel righteous, but not necessarily rewarded.
Either way, you’ll get One Last Trick in some form. The only question is whether you walk away as a hero, a liar, or a well-armed opportunist.
