Beginner Tips and Tricks for Smite 2

The open beta for Smite 2 is here, and everyone is stumbling around like toddlers learning to walk, so it’s the perfect time to jump in. Here’s a simple tips and tricks guide to get you started.

1. What is Smite 2?

Smite 2 is a MOBA where you play as gods and legends from mythology. Zeus throws lightning bolts, Loki sneaks around causing chaos, and yes, Aladdin is here with his trusty lamp.

There are five game modes:

  • Arena and Assault: Non-stop action and team fights. Great if you like chaos.

  • Duel and Joust: Smaller maps for 1v1 and 3v3 action.

  • Conquest: The main competitive mode with three lanes, a jungle, and big objectives. It’s where the “serious” players hang out, so naturally, we’re focusing on this one.

2. The Goal of Conquest

In Conquest, the objective is to destroy the enemy Titan (big shiny god-thing in their base). To get there, you’ll need to:

  1. Destroy towers and phoenixes in at least one lane.

  2. Kill minions and enemy players for gold and experience.

  3. Work with your team to conquer objectives and win fights.

3. The Map: Your Playground of Destruction

The Conquest map has three lanes (left, middle, and right) and a jungle in between. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Lanes: Spawn minions that fight each other. Kill them for gold and XP.

  • Jungle: Full of camps that give buffs.

    • Gold Fury: Grants your team gold, XP, and a buff.

    • Fire Giant: Gives a huge buff to damage and regeneration.

    • Queen Naga: Drops a consumable that spawns soldiers to help you.

4. Know Your Role (and Stick to It)

There are five roles in Conquest, and each has its job. Pick one and don’t try to do everything—or you’ll do nothing well.

  • Carry: Ranged damage dealer. Starts in the duo lane with the Support. Shines in the late game.

  • Support: Tanky protector. Babysits the Carry and makes life miserable for enemies.

  • Mid: Magical burst damage specialist. Patrols the middle lane.

  • Solo: Bruiser with a mix of damage and defense. Holds down the solo lane.

  • Jungle: Roams between lanes, ambushing enemies and securing buffs. Think of them as your team's sneaky problem-solver.

5. Items: Because Naked Gods are Useless

You start with nothing, so visit the Shop in your base to buy items. These items boost your damage, defense, or utility.

  • Auto-Build: If you’re new, use it. It’s like having training wheels—it gets the job done without much effort.

  • Custom Build: Once you’ve got some experience, you can create your own setup.

6. Beginner Tips to Succeed

Here are some simple tips to keep you alive and useful:

  • Don’t Fight Alone: Smite is a team game. Running into a 1v5 fight is a fast pass to the respawn screen.

  • Farm, Farm, Farm: Kill minions and jungle camps to get gold and XP. Falling behind means you’ll be squished like a bug later.

  • Learn the Map: Know where buffs, objectives, and enemies might be lurking. Ignorance isn’t bliss—it’s death.

  • Use Pings: Communicate with your team using the ping system. Yelling at them in chat doesn’t count as “teamwork.”

  • Practice Your God: Every god has unique abilities. Play a few matches with one to get the hang of their playstyle.

7. Ask for Help (Seriously)

Nobody expects you to be a pro on day one. If you’re unsure which gods or builds to use, ask in the community or check guides. People love sharing their opinions, especially if it makes them feel smart.

Final Blurb

Smite 2 is all about teamwork, strategy, and having fun while embodying your favorite mythical characters. Whether you’re farming minions, crushing objectives, or just vibing in Arena, you’ll get better with practice.

Good luck, have fun, and may your Titan always stand tall!
