Blue Prince: Archives Room Guide

The Archives is one of those rooms that looks like it should be helpful—scrolls, shelves, mysterious lighting. But no. It’s a Red Room, and true to form, it makes your life worse in a very specific, paperwork-flavored way.

What the Archives Room Does
While drafting after entering the Archives, you’ll no longer see all 3 Floorplan options
Instead, you’ll only see 1 or 2 per draft
You still get to choose—but your options are limited and hidden
The effect lasts for the rest of the day, not just the next draft
In short: the room steals your foresight and gives you indecision. You might, however, find some things like an upgrade disk.
Why the Archives Are Annoying
It reduces your control over your run, which can lead to weird, janky layouts
Makes it harder to plan for puzzle chains or rare rooms
Can accidentally push you into bad routes—especially in late-game
The only “upside”? Some runs may benefit from reduced choices if you’re trying to force a specific room category (but let’s be real here… probably not worth it)
You don’t go into the Archives to win… You go in because you weren’t paying attention and now it’s too late.
Final Blurb
The Archives feels like it should offer answers. Instead, it shreds your blueprints and tells you to “just wing it.” Unless you’re a fan of chaos drafting and bad surprises, this is one Red Room you should walk past slowly and never look back.
