Blue Prince: Boiler Room Puzzle Guide

The Boiler Room in Blue Prince is one of the more complex and mechanical rooms in the game. Once activated it lets you restore power to other rooms throughout the mansion—unlocking puzzles, paths, and permanent effects.

Here’s how to complete the boiler puzzle and get it up and running in Blue Prince.

Step 1: Draft the Boiler Room

You’ll need to draft the Boiler Room first, which can appear in your pool of room choices. When you enter it, you’ll see a large control panel, three green tanks, a few red pipes, and two switches—one upstairs and one downstairs.

Step 2: Power All Three Green Tanks

Each green tank has a valve. Click the valves until the meters land in the green zone. This is the first requirement for activating the Boiler Room.

Step 3: Solve the Lower Section

Now head to the bottom floor of the room. There are two red pipes here and a few important connection points.

• The first red tube (next to a green tank) needs to connect to the long system of pipes.

• The T-shaped red tube should link three directions:

  1. The pipe that leads to the central machinery

  2. The pipe to the fusebox in the corner

  3. The initial pipe line

• Flip the small switch near the vertical pipe so it’s pointing upward.

Step 4: Solve the Upper Section

Go upstairs and look for the wall switch. Ignore the nearby door—it’s a distraction. Instead, flip the switch left so that steam flows into the central tank.

Step 5: Activate the Boiler

Once all three pipes are correctly funneling steam into the central machine, the control panel will light up. Press the Activate button to turn the Boiler Room on.

Now you’ll notice a slider on the panel. It can be moved left, center, or right to direct power toward certain parts of the mansion.

How Power Works

You can only send power through ventilation shafts that appear in certain types of rooms:

• Gear rooms (marked with a small gear icon): Security, Workshop, Pump Room, etc.

• Red rooms: Gymnasium, Archives, Dark Room, etc.

If you have a continuous chain of these rooms leading from the Boiler Room to another facility, the power will reach it. If a regular green room or bedroom interrupts the chain, the power won’t connect.

Look for the blue light above a doorway to see where the power is currently being sent.

What the Boiler Room Unlocks

Here’s what you can do once the Boiler Room is active:

• Power the Laboratory to solve its puzzle.

• Power the Garage, which opens the West Gate Path (though this is easier using the Utility Closet).

• If you’ve drafted the Pool, it unlocks the Pump Room. Powering that lets you drain the Reservoir or sail the boat.

• If you route steam to the red control box in the lower Boiler Room corner, you’ll unlock Red Rooms outside the manor. This unlock stays active as long as the pipe setup remains untouched.

Note: You must redo this puzzle every run, so it’s worth learning the steps.

Alternate Method: The Aquarium

Later in the game, the Aquarium can also restore power—if you’ve installed the Electric Eel upgrade using an Upgrade Disk. It functions like a second Boiler Room, but you’ll still need a proper shaft connection to your target facility.
