The Utility Closet in Blue Prince might look like a boring side room, but it’s hiding one of the trickiest puzzles in the game—and a major reward if you can solve it. Inside the room, you’ll find a breaker box with six V.A.C. indicator buttons that light up in different colors. At first, they seem to do nothing. But with the right steps, you can crack the color sequence and unlock a permanent upgrade.

What the Utility Closet Does
The Utility Closet controls power to certain rooms in the mansion, like the Garage. But more importantly, solving its breaker box puzzle unlocks the Gemstone Cavern—a permanent addition that gives you 2 extra gems at the start of each day.

If you want to solve it on your own, those are good starting points. If you’re ready to skip the fuss, here’s the full solution.
Puzzle Goal
Your objective is to get all six V.A.C. indicators to light up in this specific color order:
Gray, Blue, Green, White, Red, Purple
Step-by-Step Solution
Press every button once to turn them all green.
Pick either button 1 or button 6 and press it once more to turn it blue.
Press the green button next to the blue one. It will turn red.
Press the blue button again to turn the red button purple.
Press the new purple button to turn it blue.
Repeat steps 3–5 until five buttons are blue.
Click on the one blue button that's not in sequence to shift it one space over.
Press a gray button twice to turn it red.
Press the blue button next to the red one to make that red button turn purple.
Keep repeating steps 8 and 9 until five buttons are purple.
Press the gray button three times to make it purple.
Press button 4 once to make it white.
Press button 5 to make it blue.
Press button 6 until it turns red.
Press button 5 again to turn button 6 purple.
Press button 5 a few more times until it becomes red.
Press button 3 twice—this should make button 3 gray and button 2 blue.
Press button 3 once more to turn it green.
Press button 1 until it becomes gray.
At this point, the full sequence should match the target: Gray, Blue, Green, White, Red, Purple.
What You Unlock
Once the lights are in the correct color order, the wall above the breaker box will rise. Behind it is an electrical panel. Interact with it to unlock the Gemstone Cavern, which permanently grants you 2 bonus gems at the start of every day.
