Bourgeon Guide – How to Find and Beat Bourgeon in Expedition 33

The Bourgeon is an optional boss hiding in Flying Waters, and while you could ignore it and move along, where’s the fun in that? Taking down this leafy brute not only gives you bragging rights but also some solid rewards—including a key item for a future side quest.

Here’s how to find Bourgeon, how to beat it, and why electrocuting plants is a perfectly valid strategy.

Where to Find Bourgeon in Flying Waters

As you explore Flying Waters, keep an eye out after passing the sunken town square area. When you reach the handholds, skip the obvious path lit by lamps. Instead, veer left and follow the narrow trail.

At the end, you’ll stumble across Bourgeon—a massive Nevron who looks like it skipped sunlight and went straight for steroids.

How to Beat Bourgeon

  • Weakness: Lightning

  • This is your cue to unleash Gustave’s Overcharge and let Lune go wild with her lightning-based weapon (Deminerim—which you hopefully grabbed earlier by helping out that mine-less Demineur).

Survival Tips

  • Keep your AP stocked for free aim shots if needed.

  • Use Maelle to break through any defenses if Bourgeon decides to play tanky.

  • Don’t drag out the fight—Bourgeon hits harder the longer it sticks around.

Bourgeon Rewards

Defeating Bourgeon isn’t just for fun—you’ll walk away with:

  • A new weapon for Gustave

  • A fresh Pictos

  • Bourgeon Skin (yes, you’re basically skinning him—don’t think about it too much)

That Bourgeon Skin will come in handy later for a special side quest, so don’t sell it or forget about it.

Final Blurb

Bourgeon is one of those "optional" bosses that doesn’t feel very optional if you like loot and proving a point. Zap it into submission, collect your rewards, and remember—sometimes the best part of Expedition 33 is wandering off the main path just to punch a giant plant in the face.
