Helldivers 2 Hulk Weak Spots Guide

Helldivers 2 Hulk Weak Spots Guide

Hulks in Helldivers 2 have two weak spots that matter: the tiny red visor on the front and the exposed heat sink on the back. The visor is the fastest kill if you can land the shot, while the rear heat sink is the more forgiving target if you can flank, stun, or bait the Hulk into turning away from you.

The thing players get wrong is treating the visor like the only “correct” answer. It is not. If the Hulk is walking straight at you, bobbing around, spraying fire, or pinning you with rockets, forcing eye shots can get dumb fast. Stun it, break a leg, remove the dangerous arm, hit the back vent, or spend a stratagem. A dead Hulk is a dead Hulk. Super Earth does not give bonus points for making the kill more annoying.

Where To Shoot Hulks In Helldivers 2

Shoot Hulks in the red front visor or the rear heat sink. Those are the two weak spots worth building your fight around.

The front visor is the precision weak spot. You aim at the glowing red eye in the middle of the Hulk’s upper body and hit it with a weapon that can actually punch through. This is the cleanest kill when the Hulk is stunned, walking in a straight line, or far enough away that you can line up the shot without getting roasted.

The rear heat sink is the “I would rather not play a sniper minigame while a robot tank chases me” weak spot. It is bigger, easier to see from behind, and takes damage much more comfortably once you have the angle. The problem is getting behind the Hulk without becoming a cautionary example for your squad.

Target Best Situation What It Solves
Red visor Hulk is stunned or facing you cleanly Fastest direct kill
Rear heat sink Hulk is distracted or you can flank Easier damage without perfect aim
Weapon arms Flamethrower, rockets, or saw are causing the problem Removes the immediate threat
Legs Hulk is chasing or blocking an objective Slows or stops its push

That table is basically the whole fight. Kill it through the weak spot when you can. Break it apart when you cannot.

How The Hulk Front Visor Weak Spot Works

The Hulk’s front weak spot is the glowing red visor near the center of its chassis. Hitting this spot with the right weapon can kill the Hulk quickly, but it is a small target and it becomes much harder to hit while the Hulk is moving.

This is why people get frustrated with Hulks. The advice “just shoot the eye” is technically true and also kind of useless when the Hulk is stomping at you, your screen is shaking, and three other bots are turning the hillside into a fireworks warehouse.

Use the visor shot when you have control of the fight. That usually means one of these is true:

  • The Hulk is stunned.
  • The Hulk is far enough away that you can aim calmly.
  • The Hulk is walking straight toward you without much side movement.
  • You are using a weapon you can actually land precise shots with.
  • Your squad has cleared enough smaller bots that you are not being flinched every second.

The visor kill feels great, but do not let it bait you into bad positioning. If you miss once or twice and the Hulk keeps closing, change the plan. Reloading your pride does not stop a flamethrower.

When To Shoot The Rear Heat Sink Instead

Shoot the rear heat sink when the Hulk is focused on someone else, stunned, turning slowly, or stuck in terrain. The back vent is the better target when you cannot reliably hit the visor from the front.

This is also where teamwork makes Hulks much easier. One player draws the Hulk’s attention while another rotates behind it and unloads into the heat sink. It is not fancy, but it works, and it keeps you from wasting half your support weapon ammo into front armor.

The rear weak spot is especially useful if you are carrying a weapon that performs better into exposed parts than heavy armor. You can also use explosives to punish the back when the angle is right. Just remember that Hulks can explode or collapse dangerously when they die, so do not celebrate by hugging the wreckage like it owes you samples.

If you are solo, the back vent is harder to use, but not impossible. Stuns, EMS effects, terrain, and wide rotations can all give you the angle. If the map is open and the Hulk is locked onto you, though, forcing a flank can be worse than just stopping it with a leg shot or stratagem.

How To Kill Hulks If You Keep Missing The Eye

If you keep missing the Hulk eye, use Stun Grenades, shoot the legs, go for the rear heat sink, or call a heavy stratagem. You do not have to win every Hulk fight with a perfect visor shot.

This is the advice I would give most players before telling them to “practice aim.” Practice helps, obviously. But during an actual Automaton mission, the better answer is building a loadout that does not collapse the moment your first eye shot misses.

Here are the backup plans that actually make sense:

  • Throw a Stun Grenade and turn the visor shot into an easy shot.
  • Break a leg so the Hulk cannot keep walking you down.
  • Destroy the flamethrower or rocket arm if that weapon is forcing you out of cover.
  • Rotate behind it while it is focused on a teammate.
  • Stick Thermite to the upper torso instead of wasting it on an arm or leg.
  • Use a direct-hit stratagem when the Hulk is protecting an objective or grouped with other bots.

I like the stun-first approach because it turns Hulks from a panic check into a timing check. You still need to aim, but you are no longer trying to thread a shot through a moving slot while the Hulk roleplays as a furnace with legs.

Which Hulk Parts To Break First

Break the part that is currently making the fight dangerous. Against Scorcher Hulks, that usually means the flamethrower arm. Against rocket Hulks, it may be the launcher side. Against any Hulk that is rushing your position, the legs are worth targeting.

This is where a lot of players tunnel too hard on weak spots. The Hulk’s visor and back vent are kill targets. The arms and legs are control targets. If you cannot get the kill right away, control the Hulk first.

Shooting off both arms can leave the Hulk with only close-range stomps and kicks. That is not harmless, but it is a lot better than getting deleted by fire or rockets. Leg damage can also stop a chase long enough for you to reload, stim, call a stratagem, or just leave the situation like a sane person.

The only time limb damage is bad is when it becomes your entire personality. If you have a clean visor shot, take it. If the Hulk is already facing away, shoot the heat sink. But when the clean kill is not there, breaking parts is a smart way to stop the fight from snowballing.

Best Weapons For Killing Hulks

The best weapons for Hulks are the ones that can kill through the visor, punish the rear heat sink, or disable limbs without needing a perfect setup.

Weapon Best Target Why It Is Good
Autocannon Visor, rear heat sink, limbs Probably the most comfortable all-purpose bot weapon for Hulk fights.
Anti-Materiel Rifle Front visor Great for players who can land precise shots, especially with stuns.
Laser Cannon Visor or rear heat sink Strong if you can keep the beam steady on the weak spot.
Railgun Visor Good controlled burst damage when you have a clean opening.
Recoilless Rifle Body or visor Good when you want a heavy answer without dancing around the Hulk.
EAT Body or visor Useful disposable anti-tank option when Hulks are not your only problem.
Quasar Cannon Body, visor, legs Strong anti-heavy option, but the charge timing can punish bad spacing.
Thermite Grenade Upper torso Excellent if it sticks where it should instead of chewing off the wrong part.

The Autocannon is the one I would point most bot players toward because it gives you answers even when the fight gets ugly. It can pressure weak spots, break parts, and still handle the rest of the Automaton mess around the Hulk.

The AMR is more satisfying when you are accurate, but it is less forgiving if the Hulk is moving or you are getting flinched. Pair it with Stun Grenades and it feels much better. Without stuns, it can turn into a tiny-red-pixel frustration machine.

Best Stratagems Against Hulks

The best stratagems against Hulks are heavy direct-hit options like Orbital Precision Strike, Orbital Railcannon Strike, Eagle Airstrike, Eagle 500kg Bomb, and Eagle 110mm Rocket Pods.

Use stratagems when the Hulk is part of a larger problem. If one Hulk is walking alone across an open field, you can usually solve that with your support weapon. If a Hulk is parked on an objective with Devastators and Berserkers around it, send the expensive solution.

Stratagem Best Use Notes
Orbital Precision Strike Direct-hit heavy kill Strong if you can land the timing.
Orbital Railcannon Strike Priority Hulk removal Good panic button, but do not waste it on every lone Hulk.
Eagle Airstrike Hulk plus nearby bots Best when the Hulk is not alone.
Eagle 500kg Bomb Objective pressure or clustered heavies Overkill is still kill.
Eagle 110mm Rocket Pods Heavy target burst More reliable when the angle hits top or rear armor well.
Orbital Laser Big bot pushes Better for a collapsing fight than a single clean Hulk duel.

The mistake is saving stratagems forever because you “might need them later.” If the Hulk is about to wipe the squad or stall the objective, later is now. Spend the cooldown and keep the mission moving.

How To Fight Each Hulk Type

Different Hulk variants use the same weak spot logic, but they punish different mistakes.

Scorcher Hulks are the ones you should disrespect the least. The flamethrower turns bad spacing into instant regret, so do not let them walk into your face. Stun them, take the eye shot, break the flamethrower arm, or damage a leg before they close the gap.

Bruiser Hulks are more of a ranged pressure problem. Use cover, avoid long exposed peeks, and look for visor shots when they stop or move predictably. If rockets are forcing you out of position, disabling the weapon arm can be worth it.

Obliterator Hulks with heavy rocket pressure should be handled fast. They are not the enemy you want to leave wandering around while you clean up smaller bots. Kill them with a support weapon if you have the shot, or use a stratagem if they are locking down the area.

Firebomber Hulks are priority targets because fire plus ragdoll physics is a miserable combination. If one starts lobbing incendiary shots around the objective, do not treat it like background noise. Remove it before the entire fight becomes flames, stims, and bad language.

Jet Hulks are dangerous because they can close the gap faster than normal Hulks. Their mobility changes the fight. Keep more space than usual, punish the jump pack when possible, and do not assume you have time to slowly line up shots just because it started far away.

Best Hulk Kill Plan For Most Players

For most players, the best Hulk plan is to carry a reliable support weapon, bring Stun Grenades if your loadout allows it, and stop relying on perfect visor shots as your only answer.

Use the visor when the Hulk is controlled. Use the rear heat sink when the Hulk is distracted. Use limb damage when the Hulk is actively ruining your positioning. Use stratagems when the Hulk is part of a bigger bot pile or blocking the objective.

The front eye is the fastest weak spot, but the back vent is often the easier kill. That is the difference that matters in real missions. The wiki answer is “shoot the weak spot.” The useful answer is knowing which weak spot you can actually reach before the Hulk makes the fight stupid.

If I am loading into bots and expect Hulks, I want at least one dependable Hulk answer on me before the mission starts. Autocannon plus stuns is comfortable. AMR plus stuns is cleaner if your aim is good. Heavy anti-tank works when you do not want to negotiate with the robot at all. Whatever you pick, build for the messy version of the fight, not the perfect one.

So yes, shoot the red visor. But when that shot is not there, do not stand still trying to prove something. Stun it, flank it, cripple it, bomb it, and move on before the next patrol turns one Hulk into a full Automaton group project.
