How Glamour Plates Work in Final Fantasy XIV

Glamour Plates in Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) are a fun way to customize how your character looks. They let you save outfits and apply them to your gear quickly. Here’s a simple guide to how they work and how to set them up.

1. Unlock Glamour Plates

Before you can use Glamour Plates, you need to unlock the glamour system.

• Complete the Level 15 quest “If I Had a Glamour.”

• The quest is given by Swyrgeim in Western Thanalan (x12.6, y14.3).

You’ll also need to unlock Glamour Plates by:

• Unlocking an Inn Room at any major city. This happens naturally as part of the Main Story Quest (MSQ).

2. What Are Glamour Plates?

Glamour Plates are templates where you save outfits. These plates let you change the look of your gear without affecting the stats. You can save up to 20 Glamour Plates at once.

3. How to Set Up a Glamour Plate

Follow these steps to create a Glamour Plate:

1. Go to a Glamour Dresser:

   • You’ll find Glamour Dressers in inn rooms or housing areas.

2. Put Items in the Glamour Dresser:

   • Drag gear from your inventory into the dresser. Each piece you put in uses 1 glamour prism.

3. Open the Glamour Plate Menu:

   • In the dresser, select “Edit Glamour Plates.”

4. Add Items to the Plate:

   • Drag the items from your Glamour Dresser onto the plate slots. You can customize each gear slot (head, body, legs, etc.).

5. Save Your Plate:

   • After setting up your outfit, click “Save.”

Now your Glamour Plate is ready to use!

4. Applying a Glamour Plate

Once your Glamour Plate is set up, you can apply it to your gear:

• At an Aetheryte Camp: You can only apply Glamour Plates in cities, housing areas, or near Aetheryte camps.

• Open the Character menu and go to “Glamour Plates.”

• Select the plate you want and click “Apply.”

Your gear will take on the appearance of the items saved in the Glamour Plate.

5. Changing Glamour Plates in the Field

If you want to switch outfits while out in the world, you can use Glamour Prisms to manually glamour individual items. However, Glamour Plates themselves can only be applied in specific areas.

6. Dyed Items and Glamour Plates

You can dye items before adding them to your Glamour Plate. When you apply the plate, the dye will also transfer. If you want to change the dye later, just update the Glamour Plate and save it again.
