You can fight Jevil in Chapter 1 once you reach the Castle, but you’ll need to unlock his door first. He’s hidden, annoying, and probably laughing at you already.

Where Jevil Is Hiding

Use the ??? Elevator Floor

After clearing the Castle Dungeon, head past the shop and ride the elevator to the first floor.

Walk down and to the right until you find another elevator. It’ll be labeled with question marks. Take it, walk down the stairs, and you’ll find Jevil’s door.

Try opening it and he’ll tell you he needs a key. Classic.

How to Get the Broken Key Pieces

Talk to Seam the Shopkeeper

Go back to the Field and visit Seam’s shop. Pick the dialogue about the “Strange Prisoner.”

He’ll hand over Broken Key B and hint at the locations of the other two parts.

Key A: The Hidden Path Near Bake Sale

Head to the Bake Sale area and walk left. Go past the two Bloxers.

In the dancer room, take the path going south. Kris will walk off the main path, but just keep going.

You’ll find some Rabbick enemies and eventually get Broken Key A.

Key C: Field Puzzle Room

Fast travel to the Field and go right until you hit the old symbol puzzle.

Set the order to Diamond, Heart, Clover, and Spade. This unlocks Broken Key C.

How to Fix the Key

Head back to the Bake Sale. Go north to find Malius the Smith.

He’ll notice the broken pieces and fix them for you, turning them into the full key.

Once that’s done, Jevil is officially ready for a visit.

What to Bring Before the Boss Fight

Stock up on healing items, especially ones that hit the whole team.

Jevil’s attacks are fast, constant, and meant to wear you down. Having decent Defense on all party members helps a lot.

This fight will test your dodging more than anything else.

Jevil Fight Guide

You can either defeat Jevil or spare him. If you spare him, you get Jevilstail armor. If you knock him out, you get the Devilsknife weapon.

Either way, the fight is the hardest one in Chapter 1.

Jevil gives voice lines before his major attacks, so listen carefully and get used to how they work.

Jevil's Key Attacks:

"Catch me if you can"
Spades fly from all sides while he teleports. Stay moving and watch for the rhythm.

"Having fun yet, join the club"
Clubs charge from both edges of the screen. They move fast and hit hard.

"Let’s make the Devilsknife"
A spinning blade shows up in a square. Stay near the middle and keep dodging back and forth.

"Let’s ride the carousel game"
Horses dash diagonally across the screen. Stay away from the corners.

"My hearts go out to all the sinners"
Four spinning hearts sweep across the screen in two groups. Wait to dodge until they get close.

"Shall we play around?"
Spinning spades close in on you. Stay far back and dodge early.

Once Jevil runs out of tricks, he enters his final phase.

The combat box disappears and attacks get faster. Every move above can now show up at once, so it’s chaos. Survive long enough and you’ll win.

What You Get for Beating Jevil

No matter how you end it, you’ll get one of these:

  • Devilsknife if you defeat him

  • Jevilstail if you spare him

  • A Shadow Crystal either way

You can show the Shadow Crystal to Seam, who will say it comes from powerful beings. It doesn’t do much in Chapter 1, but it carries over into Chapter 2.

It’s also the only way to get it, so don’t skip the fight.

You can return to fight Jevil later too, as long as you made it to the Castle in your save file.

Final Blurb

Jevil is chaos in clown form. He hits hard, never lets up, and dances on your last nerve. But once you’ve got the key and enough snacks, you can beat him. Or at least try... a lot.
