Layered armor lets you change your character's look without affecting stats. It’s perfect for when you want to look stylish but still keep the best gear for the job. It essentially acts as a cosmetic override/transmog.

How to Unlock Layered Armor

To unlock layered armor, you need to craft the High Rank version of an armor piece. Once you do, its layered version becomes available.

Here’s how to get it:

  • Defeat High Rank monsters to gather materials.

  • Craft High Rank armor at the Smithy.

  • The layered armor version unlocks automatically for that piece.

Note: High Rank content unlocks after beating the main story, so you’ll need to finish the campaign first.

Special Layered Armor

Some editions of the game, like the Deluxe Edition, come with bonus layered armor you can use right away.

How to Equip Layered Armor

Once you unlock a layered armor piece, follow these steps to equip it:

  1. Go to any tent and open the Appearance Menu.

  2. Select Equipment Appearance.

  3. Choose a gear slot: head, chest, arms, waist, or legs.

  4. Browse your unlocked layered armor and select the one you want.

  5. Press the confirm button to equip it.

And that’s it! Now you can look however you want without sacrificing your best stats.
