Mehrunes Dagon Armor

If you grabbed the Deluxe Edition of Oblivion Remastered, you also paid for some fiery new gear. But Bethesda being Bethesda, they didn’t exactly leave a glowing marker on your map. To get the Mehrunes Dagon-themed Cataclysm armor and weapons, you’ll need to complete a questline called Burning Trail—and yes, it’s as cryptic as it sounds.

Here’s how to get started and claim your Daedric rewards.

How to Start the Burning Trail Quest

  • After leaving the Imperial City Sewers, head straight to the Talos Plaza District.

  • Find a Mythic Dawn pamphlet pinned to a barrel near the big dragon statue.

  • Read it to kick off the Burning Trail quest.

Now begins your scavenger hunt across Cyrodiil.

Burning Trail Quest Walkthrough

  • Hircine’s Shrine
The pamphlet points you to Hircine’s Shrine, south of the Imperial City.

    • Look where the wolf statue is facing.

    • Behind the first tree in that direction, you’ll find the second pamphlet.

  • Molag Bal’s Shrine
Next, head to Molag Bal’s Shrine.

    • The clue says "march towards the light of dawn."

    • Look east of the shrine—there’s a tree with the third pamphlet attached.

  • Lucky Old Lady Statue in Bravil
The final clue leads you to Bravil.

    • Go to the Lucky Old Lady statue.

    • The fourth note is hidden on the wall next to her. If you don’t see it right away, wait for a quest marker to appear on your compass.

  • Find the Shy Dunmer
After collecting all notes, head to Bravil’s Lonely Suitor Lodge.

    • Speak to Ranaline.

    • Raise her disposition to 60 through persuasion or bribery.

    • She’ll give you Mythic Dawn robes and send you to Mingo Cave.

The Crimson Cave Quest

  • Wear the Mythic Dawn robes before entering Mingo Cave.

  • Inside, you’ll meet Mehrunes’ Harbinger.

  • You’ll be asked to sacrifice a captured guard by lighting the pyre.

    • If you do it, you’ll earn your place in the cult.

    • If you refuse and kill the cultists instead, the Harbinger still rewards you for being "appropriately bloodthirsty."

Either way, you win.

How to Claim the Mehrunes Dagon Gear

  • After completing The Crimson Cave, you get a spell to Summon Mehrunes' Harbinger.

  • Use this spell (it costs no magicka) to summon him anytime.

  • Ask for your Cataclysm armor, weapons, and horse armor.

    • The armor comes in both light and heavy versions.

    • You can summon him again if you want more gear later.

Don’t forget—you can also buy the Cataclysm horse armor for 500 gold at any stable, including the Chestnut Handy Stables near the Imperial City.

Final Blurb

If you pledged loyalty to Mehrunes Dagon or on the other side wiped out his followers, you’ll walk away looking like a true Daedric menace. Just remember—fashion has a price, and in this case, it was $10 and a guard’s life.
