Making a bow in RuneScape: Dragonwilds is one of the best early ways to survive without getting your face clawed off. It’s fast, reliable, and lets you shoot enemies from a safe distance, which is ideal when you’re not in the mood to get stomped by a rat the size of a pony.
Here’s how to craft your first bow, get some arrows, and start picking off creatures before they even know you exist.

Step 1: Build a Spinning Wheel
You’ll need a Spinning Wheel before anything else. Open your Build Menu (press B) and place it under a roof panel—no roof, no spin.
Spinning Wheel recipe:
12x Ash Logs
4x Flax
2x Stone
You can usually find Flax in the areas between Temple Woods and Bramblemead Valley—just look for the tall blue flowers and start picking.
Step 2: Make Coarse Thread
Use the Spinning Wheel to spin 1x Flax into 1x Coarse Thread. Do that three times. This unlocks recipes like the Ash Shortbow.
Step 3: Craft the Bow
Head to your Crafting Table and use the materials below to make your new ranged best friend.
Ash Shortbow recipe:
12x Ash Logs
3x Coarse Thread
Now you’re dangerous.
Step 4: Make Arrows
You can’t shoot air (well, you can, but it won’t help). Start with Stone Arrows unless you’ve unlocked Fang Arrows.
Fang Arrows recipe:
1x Small Animal Fang
1x Ash Log
1x Feather
Stone Arrows recipe:
1x Stone
1x Ash Log
1x Feather
Feathers drop from chickens (lots of them hang around Temple Woods). Small Animal Fangs drop from rats—especially those lurking near the windmill in northern Temple Woods.
Step 5: Equip and Fire
Once crafted, open your inventory, equip the bow and arrows, and you’re ready to go. The bow handles ranged combat fast and clean—perfect for staying alive while your melee friend gets mauled.
Final Blurb
Congrats, you’ve gone from "guy with sticks" to "guy with stick that shoots other sticks." That’s progress. Now go get those antlers or just poke some goblins for sport. Up to you.
