RuneScape Dragonwilds How To Use Magic Carpet

To use Magic Carpet in RuneScape Dragonwilds, unlock it in Umbral Sands, open the Spellbook menu, go to Mounts, scroll down to Carpet, select it, and press Equip. Once it is equipped, summon your mount like normal and your character will ride the Magic Carpet instead of your previous mount.

The confusing part is that the Magic Carpet is not equipped from your inventory. It is a mount option inside the Spellbook menu. If you have finished the early Umbral Sands questline but still cannot ride it, you probably have not equipped it from Mounts yet.

How To Use Magic Carpet

After unlocking Magic Carpet, use your normal mount summon while Carpet is selected as your active mount.

The full process is:

  1. Unlock Magic Carpet from the Umbral Sands questline.
  2. Open the Spellbook menu.
  3. Go to Mounts.
  4. Scroll down to Carpet.
  5. Select Carpet and press Equip.
  6. Use your mount summon like normal.

That is all there is to the actual riding part. Magic Carpet works like a mount, not a consumable item or spell you manually cast every time.

How To Equip Magic Carpet

Magic Carpet is equipped from Spellbook > Mounts.

This menu includes your mount options, including Terrabird variants and the Carpet once it has been unlocked. Scroll down until you find Carpet, select it, then press Equip. After that, the game treats Magic Carpet as your current mount.

This is the step that is easy to miss because “Spellbook” does not sound like the place where mounts would live. But in RuneScape Dragonwilds, that is where the Mounts menu is.

If you unlocked the carpet and immediately tried to find it in your inventory, you are not crazy. The game just does not point you to the right menu very well.

How To Unlock Magic Carpet

Magic Carpet is unlocked through the early Umbral Sands main questline, Icthlarin’s Little Helper.

That quest has you help three Moon Garou residents in the first village. Once those tasks are finished, Magic Carpet becomes one of the main early rewards for the region.

The three residents are:

  • Velos, the blacksmith.
  • Domri, the merchant.
  • Logra, the butcher.

You do not need to craft the Magic Carpet separately after the quest reward. Once it is unlocked, go to Spellbook > Mounts and equip it there.

Umbral Sands Quest Steps

For Velos, complete A Mirror Cracked by bringing three Adamant Bars. Mine Adamantite Ore around the marked Umbral Sands mining area, then smelt it with Coal at the Blast Furnace.

For Logra, gather raw farm meat, Kalphite shell fragments, and cactus steaks. Raw meat comes from mountain goats, Kalphite shell fragments come from Kalphites, and cactus steaks come from chopping the smaller bunny-style cactus plants. You will need an Adamant Logging Axe before the cactus step.

For Domri, mine Gypsum in the quest-marked area until you get Moonstones. If you are mining random Gypsum nodes around the map and not getting the drop, go back to the marked area and try there after the nodes replenish. That seems to be the important spot for this quest.

After all three village tasks are complete, return to the main quest flow and collect the Magic Carpet unlock.

Since Water Magic is especially useful while exploring Umbral Sands, you should also unlock the Magic Carpet in RuneScape Dragonwilds so quicksand and long desert routes are easier to handle.

What Magic Carpet Is For

Magic Carpet is mainly for traveling through Umbral Sands.

Its biggest use is crossing dunes and quicksand more safely and quickly. That makes it more than a cosmetic mount. The region has desert hazards, long stretches of sand, and areas where movement can become annoying fast without the right mount.

Equip it as soon as you unlock it if you are still exploring Umbral Sands. The carpet is clearly built for this region, and keeping a weaker travel option active only makes the desert more irritating than it needs to be.

Just do not treat Magic Carpet as a free pass to ignore the whole zone. It helps with movement, especially quicksand traversal, but enemies, heat, and other Umbral Sands hazards still matter.

Magic Carpet Not Working?

If Magic Carpet is not working, check whether it is actually equipped.

Run through this list:

  • Finish Icthlarin’s Little Helper in Umbral Sands.
  • Help Velos, Domri, and Logra in the first village.
  • Open Spellbook.
  • Go to Mounts.
  • Scroll down until you see Carpet.
  • Select Carpet and press Equip.
  • Use your normal mount summon.

If Carpet does not appear in the Mounts menu, the unlock is probably not complete yet. If Carpet appears but you are still riding something else, select it again and make sure you pressed Equip.

The short answer for RuneScape Dragonwilds players is simple: unlock Magic Carpet from the Umbral Sands questline, equip it in Spellbook > Mounts, then summon your mount. That is how to use Magic Carpet.
