If you’ve been wondering how to make Hard Leather in RuneScape: Dragonwilds then you’ve come to the right place. Once you get the right pieces built it’s actually pretty simple. Here’s how to do it step-by-step.

Step 1: Build a Tannery

First, you need Leather, and for that, you’ll need a Tannery.

  • Build a Tannery at your base

  • Throw in Animal Hides (from wild creatures)

  • Wait a bit, and it’ll spit out regular Leather

Want faster output? Build a Tanner’s Kit and place it next to the tannery.

Tanner’s Kit recipe:

  • 6 Bronze Bars (found in Fractured Plains)

  • 8 Coarse Thread

  • 6 Adhesive

  • 18 Ash Planks

This gives your tannery a second slot—very worth it.

Step 2: Make Adhesive with a Kiln

You’ll also need Adhesive, which is made using a Kiln.

Kiln recipe:

  • 8 Ash Logs

  • 20 Stone

  • 6 Clay

  • 10 Fire Runes

Once you have a kiln:

  • Place Swamp Tar inside

  • Wait for it to cook into Adhesive

Stockpile this stuff. You’ll need a lot of it later.

Step 3: Combine Leather + Adhesive

Back at the Tannery, you can now make Hard Leather.

  • Place Leather into the tannery

  • Add Adhesive

  • Out comes Hard Leather, ready for crafting higher-tier gear (like Iron equipment)

Final Blurb

Hard Leather doesn’t come quick in RuneScape: Dragon Wilds—it’s a multi-step grind involving kilns, bronze tools, and swamp goo. But once you’re set up, it becomes one of the most valuable mid-game materials. Just don’t forget to pick up your adhesive before running off to fight something. Sticky pockets make for sad armor.
