You can’t pick the Artist Life right away in Fantasy Life i. To unlock it, you’ll need to progress through the main story until you finish a quest that leads you to the Tropical Isles in the past.
Once that quest is done, you’ll unlock the Artist License and can start painting your way to greatness.
Here’s how to do it without getting lost or stuck talking to statues.
Complete the Artist’s Treasure Hunt Quest
This quest pops up during the main story and is tied to saving Edward, again. This time, the guy is blocked by a broken statue, because of course he is.
You’ll need to travel back to the past with Anne and Rem, then head out to the Tropical Isles.
Once you reach the isles, look for the Artist Guild. You’ll meet Paulette and get pulled into an art-off with her rival, Kikyo. After all the dramatic paintbrush drama, return to Anne to finally unlock the Artist Life.
Learn the Basics in Set My Soul Ablaze
Once you become an Artist, you’ll get a starter quest called Set My Soul Ablaze.
You’ll go back to Paulette and help her find her apprentice, who will put your skills to the test. After that, you’ll need to complete a client request by crafting a Jovial Mask at the workbench.
It’s a short mini-game. Once you finish it and hand over the mask, you complete the quest and unlock more freedom to craft and create as an Artist.
Decorate Your World
After learning how the Artist Life works, you can start using it anywhere. You’ll be able to make new pieces of art and decor to decorate your home and base.
So yes... you’ll go from saving lives to choosing wallpaper.
