In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, grenade launchers are powerful tools for dealing with groups of enemies or tough opponents. Here’s a simple guide on how to get one and use them.
Step 1: Find or Buy a Grenade Launcher
Looting: Grenade launchers and their grenades can be found by looting enemy bodies, searching stashes, or exploring hidden areas in the Zone.
Trading: Some traders in the game sell grenade launchers or their ammunition. Look for military-focused merchants or weapon specialists.
Step 2: Attach the Grenade Launcher to a Compatible Weapon
Check Compatibility: Not all weapons can use a grenade launcher. Look for weapons with an under-barrel attachment slot.
Attach the Launcher: Open your inventory, drag the grenade launcher to the weapon’s under-barrel slot, and drop it. Once attached, you’ll see the launcher appear on the weapon icon.
Step 3: Equip Grenades
Select Grenades: Make sure you have the right type of grenades for your launcher in your inventory. These are often labeled as "grenade launcher ammo" or similar.
Load the Launcher: Press the key to switch to the grenade launcher mode (this is usually tied to your weapon’s secondary function, like
XorAlt+Fire). This action loads a grenade into the launcher.
Step 4: Aim and Fire
Switch to Launcher Mode: Once the launcher is equipped, aim using your weapon’s sights or crosshairs.
Adjust for Distance: Grenades follow an arc, so aim higher for targets that are farther away. Practice to get a feel for how the grenades travel.
Fire: Press the fire button (usually
Left Mouse Button) to launch the grenade.
Step 5: Reload the Grenade Launcher
After firing, reload the launcher by pressing the reload key (usually
R). Make sure you have more grenades in your inventory.
Tips for Using Grenade Launchers
Save for Groups: Grenades are most effective against groups of enemies or heavily armored targets.
Avoid Close Quarters: Grenades can hurt you if you’re too close to the explosion. Use them at a safe distance.
Stock Up on Ammo: Grenade ammo can be rare, so always buy or loot extras when you can.
Learn the Arc: Practice aiming to understand how grenades travel and where they land.
Combine with Strategy: Use the launcher to soften up enemies before engaging with your primary weapon.
