The Drying Rack in Schedule 1 sounds pretty straightforward—hang up your organic products to boost quality. But if you’ve used one for more than five minutes, you’ve probably noticed it’s a little more... temperamental than advertised.

Here’s how to use the drying rack.

How the Drying Rack Works

  • Cost: $250

  • Function: Improves the quality of leaves over time.

  • Location: Can be placed anywhere indoors.

You or your botanists can place products onto the rack, but they won’t dry automatically unless you’ve marked the rack as part of their workstations. To actually dry items:

  1. Assign a botanist to work the drying rack.

  2. Make sure the rack is selected as part of their station zone (just like pots).

  3. Avoid overloading one worker—ideally have 1 botanist per 4 racks.

Botanists Not Hanging the Leaves?

If your botanist just stares blankly at the drying rack like it owes them money, here’s what might be wrong:

  • You haven’t assigned the rack as part of their station. This is required for drying, not just placing.

  • They’re too busy. If one person is managing a jungle worth of pots and racks, they’ll prioritize growing.

  • Game time is frozen. If it's 4 AM, nothing will move until you sleep.

Fix for Broken or Glitched Drying Racks

Sometimes your rack gets bugged. The botanist stands frozen. The leaves disappear. You can’t move or interact with the rack because it claims to be “in use.” Classic.

Here are a few fixes that have worked for players:

  • Clear Pathing Around the Rack: If there’s furniture or clutter in the way, the AI might get stuck trying to access the rack.

  • Cancel the Floating Icon: Click on the little floating icon above the rack (the one showing the drying phase). This cancels the drying process and usually forces the leaves to reappear.

  • Reset the Worker: If your employee is frozen in-game, knock them out with a melee weapon. Seriously. It often resets them. You can’t make this stuff up.

  • Reload the Save: If nothing else works, try reloading from an earlier save. The game doesn’t always recover well from bugs mid-process.

Final Blurb

Drying racks are a huge part of boosting your product quality, but they’re also one of the jankier systems in Schedule 1. If things go sideways, don’t panic. Clear the path, reset your workers, and remember: it’s not you, it’s the clipboard AI.
