Mage Arena: How to Play on Mac

mage arena

Mage Arena is not officially supported on macOS, but you can run it on some MAC computers using CrossOver. This creates a Windows-like environment for the game without needing to install Windows itself.

Note: Do your own research on CrossOver before using it and make sure what you are doing is safe. We are not affiliated with CrossOver.

Step 1: Install CrossOver

CrossOver is a paid app but has a free trial. Download it from the CodeWeavers website and install it like any other macOS app.

Step 2: Create a Windows Bottle

Open CrossOver and create a new bottle (its Windows environment). Choose Windows 10 or later as the bottle type.

Step 3: Install Steam in CrossOver

Inside the bottle, install the Windows version of Steam. Once installed, log in to your Steam account as usual.

Step 4: Install Mage Arena

From Steam inside CrossOver, search for Mage Arena and install it. Keep settings at default for now.

Step 5: Adjust Settings for Performance

Set CrossOver to use Direct3D Metal with Msync enabled. In-game, set graphics to medium and limit resolution to 1080p for best stability.

Is It Safe?

Running Mage Arena on Mac this way is generally considered safe. Macs have built-in thermal protection, so you cannot damage your machine, but you’ll obviously want to make sure that WHAT you use it for is legitimate and you install only safe games to play.

CrossOver is generally considered secure because it keeps Windows programs isolated inside its own environment.

Final Blurb

Mage Arena can run on Apple Silicon Macs using CrossOver with a bit of setup. While performance may not match a native Windows PC, this method is safe and works well for casual play.
