Mewgenics Deja Vu Disorder Explained: Triggers and Effects

Mewgenics Deja Vu Disorder Explained: Triggers and Effects

In Mewgenics, the Deja Vu disorder is triggered when you quit out of battles to retry them too many times in the same run. The first reset gives only a warning, but repeated resets apply Deja Vu to your cats and can eventually remove your control of the run entirely. It is a built in anti reset mechanic, not a bug.

Here is exactly how Deja Vu works.

What Triggers Deja Vu

If you quit the game during a battle and reload to replay that fight, the game counts it.

This is tracked per run.

The moment you reload into the same fight after quitting mid battle, that counts toward the Deja Vu escalation system.

First Reset In A Run

On the first reset:

  • Steven appears

  • You receive a warning

  • No gameplay penalty is applied

You are allowed one reset per run without mechanical punishment.

Second Reset In A Run

On the second reset:

  • One random cat in your party receives the Deja Vu disorder

Deja Vu gives that cat a 10 percent chance to cancel actions. Moves, attacks, and abilities can fail to execute.

The disorder lasts for the rest of the run.

Third Reset In A Run

On the third reset:

  • Every cat in your party receives Deja Vu

Now your entire team has a 10 percent chance for actions to fail.

At this stage, consistency drops hard. Boss fights become risky because you cannot rely on planned turns.

Fourth Reset In A Run

On the fourth reset:

  • Steven takes control of the run

From that point on, all battles are controlled by AI instead of you.

You cannot regain control during that run. The AI will either win fights, lose them, or force you to abandon.

At that point, it is no longer your run.

Does Deja Vu Carry Over

No.

When you return home, the Deja Vu disorder is removed. It does not permanently affect breeding or future runs.

The punishment is temporary but serious within that run.

Is It Ever Worth Resetting

Using your one free reset can save a strong run after a major mistake. Beyond that, you are trading control and consistency for a second chance.

Two resets are manageable. Three is dangerous. Four ends your control entirely.

It is designed to make you think twice.

Final Blurb

The Deja Vu disorder in Mewgenics is the game’s way of punishing repeated battle resets. One reset is safe. Two gives one cat action failure. Three spreads it to the whole team. Four hands your run to Steven.

If you are going to retry a fight, make sure it is worth it.
