The Mice quest is all about getting back at Zhelejov for their past pranks. Your job? Paint Old Olbram’s prized white bull—but first, you’ll need a sleeping potion and some dye.
Warning: If you start Frogs after starting Mice (or vice versa) without finishing, you will fail one of the quests automatically. Finish one before taking on the other.
Step 1: Talk to Prochek in Tachov
Find Innkeeper Prochek in Tachov (northwest of Troskowitz).
He tells you about the rivalry with Zhelejov and asks you to prank Old Olbram by painting his bull.
Accept the quest to begin gathering supplies.
Step 2: Get the Sleeping Potion (Lullaby Potion)
Where to Get the Recipe
Talk to Blacksmith Radovan (southwest of Tachov’s inn).
He won’t give you the recipe easily—your options:
"I’ll use it against the Zhelejovites" → You still have to pay.
"I’ll pay you" → Costs Groschen.
"Wouldn’t you tell a fellow blacksmith?" → Works if your Blacksmith skill is 7-14.
"I’ll get it somewhere else" → Skip him and buy it from an apothecary.
How to Brew the Potion
Go to Troskowitz Apothecary (north of the stocks).
Buy Poppy, Thistle, and Herb Paris from the Apothecary.
Use the alchemy bench and follow this recipe:
Pour oil into the cauldron.
Add Poppy, boil for one turn of the hourglass.
Add Thistle, boil for one turn again.
Grind Herb Paris, then add it.
Pour into a phial.
If you mess up, just repeat the process.
Step 3: Get the Paint
Go to the Tailor in Troskowitz (behind the stocks).
Ask for black paint—he will:
Offer it for sale.
If your Speech is 8+, you can haggle.
Listening to his full speech gets it for free.
Do NOT tell him you’re painting Olbram’s bull—this will not end well.
Step 4: Paint the Bull in Zhelejov
Go to Zhelejov in the evening (around 4-5 PM).
Pour the Lullaby potion into the bull’s trough—this will put him to sleep.
Wait until night, then sneak into the barn.
Paint the bull any color—it doesn’t matter which one.
Step 5: Return to Prochek
Go back to Tachov and tell Prochek the job is done.
He rewards you with 85 Groschen.
He mentions a meeting between Zhelejov and Tachov, leading to the Battle of the Frogs and Mice quest.
Final Tips:
Finish this quest before starting Frogs (or you’ll fail one).
Do NOT hurt anyone—it instantly fails the quest.
Listening to the tailor gives you free paint, but you can skip his rambling if you don’t mind spending Groschen.
That’s it! You’ve successfully pranked Olbram, made some easy Groschen, and set up another round of village antics. Now onto the Battle of the Frogs and Mice!
