Oblivion Remastered: Imperial Corruption Quest Guide

Not every quest in Oblivion Remastered is about swinging swords. Imperial Corruption is all about charm, patience, and exposing a dirty guard. Here’s how to deal with the corrupt Watchman without getting yourself thrown in jail.

How to Start Imperial Corruption

Wander around the Market District in the Imperial City. You’ll eventually run into either Luronk gro-Grluzog or Ruslan. One of them will ask for a favor. Bring up the "Corrupt Imperial Watchman" topic, and you’ll learn that a guard named Audens Avidius has been shaking down merchants.

Get Jensine to Talk

Head to Jensine's "Good as New" Merchandise and ask her about the corrupt Watchman. She won’t spill the truth right away—you’ll need to win her over using Persuasion. Get her Disposition to 70 by focusing on Boast and Coerce options. Once she trusts you, she’ll name Avidius as the culprit.

Find a Watch Captain

Talk to any city guard and ask where to find a Watch Captain. You’ll be sent to Hieronymous Lex in the South Watchtower. Lex will redirect you to Itius Hayn, who actually handles this sort of thing.

When you speak to Hayn, he won’t agree to arrest Avidius unless you can provide two witnesses. Raise Hayn’s Disposition to 70 first, then get to work finding proof.

Convince the Witnesses

Go back to Ruslan and Luronk. You’ll need to persuade both of them to reach 70 Disposition so they’ll agree to testify. Jensine won’t budge, no matter what you try.

Once both witnesses are on board, report back to Hayn. He’ll arrange for Avidius’s arrest, but you’ll need to wait one in-game day for it to happen.

Deal With Audens Avidius

After the day passes, you’ll get a message that Avidius has been arrested. You’ve got two options now:

  • Wait 10 days: Avidius will escape prison and ambush you after you sleep.

  • Visit the prison and kill him early: Head to the Imperial City Prison and finish him off before he gets the chance.

If you let him come after you, he’ll show up with a bit of gold, and nearby NPCs can help in the fight.

Final Blurb

Imperial Corruption proves that sometimes the sharpest weapon is your silver tongue. Just remember—getting people to like you is easy when you’re good at Persuasion. Surviving a vengeful guard with a grudge? That’s a different story.
