OSRS Grid Master Masteries Guide | All Combat Upgrades

OSRS Grid Master Combat Masteries Guide

Combat Masteries are where your Grid Master power really starts to snowball. Each tier you unlock boosts all three combat styles, stacking damage, healing, and defense into permanent upgrades. By the final tier, you’re basically a raid boss in your own right.

How to Unlock Masteries

Combat Masteries unlock as you finish key milestone tasks on your grid. Every major completion powers up Melee, Ranged, and Magic together, no more style-specific grinds like in past leagues.

You’ll start seeing Mastery unlocks as soon as you clear a few bosses and grid objectives. Each one stacks passively for the rest of the event.

Combat Mastery Unlock Requirements

  • Open Bryophyta’s Chest after defeating her with a Mossy Key

  • Defeat Scurrius

  • Finish every task in Row 3 (Thieving 50, Woodcutting 45, Song of the Elves)

  • Finish every task in Row 5 (Dragon Slayer II, Hunter 75, Fishing 35, Mining 40, Herblore 78)

  • Complete every task in Column 3 (Dragon Slayer II, Fletching 80, Troll Stronghold, plus one of 70 Ranged, Strength, Agility, or Hitpoints, Herblore 78, Construction 63, and any Skillcape)

  • Complete every task in Column 5 (Fight Caves clear, Cooking 80, and 1,500 total level)

Combat Mastery Tiers and Effects

Each tier adds a new passive buff along with unique bonuses to Melee, Ranged, and Magic. Once a tier is unlocked, the effects stay active permanently.

Tier 1

Passive: 95 percent chance to save charges, ammo, and runes.

  • Melee I: 25 percent chance to roll damage twice and keep the higher hit.

  • Ranged I: Any roll below 30 percent of max hit becomes a guaranteed 30 percent.

  • Magic I: Rolls above 90 percent of max hit deal 50 percent extra damage.

Tier 2

Passive: All healing increased by 20 percent.

  • Melee II: 10 percent chance to trigger an echo hit for half your max hit (PvM only).

  • Ranged II: Every attack raises your max hit by 5 percent, stacking up to +20.

  • Magic II: Max hit rises 5 percent per tick between casts, capping at +40.

Tier 3

Passive: Doubled accuracy for every combat style.

  • Melee III: Attack rate reduced to 80 percent of normal.

  • Ranged III: Attack rate reduced to 80 percent of normal.

  • Magic III: Attack rate reduced to 80 percent of normal.

Tier 4

Passive: Damage taken reduced by 15 percent.

  • Melee IV: 5 percent chance to heal 40 percent of your dealt damage.

  • Ranged IV: Every fifth hit restores 5 Hitpoints.

  • Magic IV: When rolling 90 percent or higher, heal 10 percent of that hit.

Tier 5

Passive: Prayer point gain increased by 25 percent.

  • Melee V: Attack rate halved to 50 percent, rounding down above 5-tick, up below 4-tick.

  • Ranged V: Same 50 percent attack speed rule.

  • Magic V: Same 50 percent rule applies.

Tier 6

Passive: All attacks pierce 60 percent of Prayer protection.

  • Melee VI: Echo hit chance jumps to 20 percent, chaining up to eight times.

  • Ranged VI: Ranged attacks never miss in PvM.

  • Magic VI: Max hit increases by 1 percent per 100 enemy HP (up to +10), and if the enemy has less HP than your max hit, you automatically max.

Why Combat Masteries Are Epic

Each tier is a direct multiplier on your entire account. Accuracy doubles, healing scales off damage, and your attack speeds drop into absurd territory. The Tier 6 passives make every style capable of wiping bosses in seconds, especially when combined with relics like Golden God or Combatant links.

Final Blurb

Combat Masteries are the single biggest jump in power you’ll feel during Grid Master. Every tier stacks, every style benefits, and the late-game bonuses break combat wide open. Hit Tier 6 and you’ll be watching bosses like Branda and KQ melt before you can even swap prayers.

FAQ

Do all passives stay active?

Yes, every tier you unlock remains active for the rest of the event.

Which combat style scales best?

Melee and Magic at Tier 6 are ridiculous, though Ranged’s guaranteed accuracy is perfect for fast boss farming.
