Palworld 1.0 How to Get Zoe

Palworld 1.0 How to Get Zoe

You can get Zoe in Palworld 1.0 by finding her at the Desolate Church after defeating Zoe and Grizzbolt at the Rayne Syndicate Tower, then completing her recruitment questline. The quest asks you to speak with Zoe while Grizzbolt is summoned, deal with Free Pal Alliance members near the church, recover Zoe’s Tattered Memento from the Fort Ruins, and then add Zoe & Grizzbolt as an ally.

The important detail is that there are two different “Zoe” outcomes in 1.0. Completing the quest gives you Zoe & Grizzbolt as a proper ally unit, with strong Electric-type base utility and combat value. Capturing Zoe directly with a Pal Sphere gives you a separate human version of Zoe instead, which is not the same as the recruited Zoe & Grizzbolt unit. That difference matters because one is the intended ally reward, while the other is more of a strange Palworld edge case, which is basically this game’s native language.

Where to Find Zoe in Palworld 1.0

Zoe appears at the Desolate Church after you defeat her in the Rayne Syndicate Tower. If you are looking for her before clearing that tower fight, she will not be available as a recruitable ally yet. The tower battle comes first, then the Desolate Church version of Zoe becomes part of the 1.0 recruitment chain.

This is the piece that can make the quest feel confusing. Zoe is not recruited from the tower itself. The tower fight establishes her story role, but the actual recruitment process starts later, when she can be found at the church. Once she is there, you can talk to her and begin working through the objectives that eventually add Zoe & Grizzbolt to your roster.

For travel, treat the Desolate Church as your hub for the questline. You will leave the area to handle objectives, but you keep returning to Zoe there until she joins you. If you are still moving around the map with early mounts, our Palworld 1.0 flying mounts list can help you pick a better travel option before you start bouncing between ruins, factions, and fast travel points.

How to Recruit Zoe

To recruit Zoe, speak with her at the Desolate Church and complete her quest objectives in order. The quest is fairly direct, but it asks for a few things that can trip players up if they assume Zoe joins immediately after the tower fight.

Step Objective What It Means
1 Defeat Zoe and Grizzbolt at Rayne Syndicate Tower This unlocks Zoe’s later appearance at Desolate Church
2 Talk to Zoe at Desolate Church This begins the recruitment chain
3 Speak to Zoe while Grizzbolt is summoned You need your own valid Grizzbolt on the field
4 Defeat or capture 5 Free Pal Alliance members They can be found north of Desolate Church
5 Recover Zoe’s Tattered Memento The item is found at the Fort Ruins
6 Return to Zoe She asks to join your adventure
7 Add Zoe & Grizzbolt from your party or Palbox If your party is full, they are sent to the Palbox

The quest is less about difficulty and more about knowing what version of each requirement the game actually wants. The Grizzbolt step needs a real captured Grizzbolt, the faction step sends you north of the church, and the memento step points you toward Fort Ruins. Once those are done, Zoe & Grizzbolt become available as a proper ally unit.

How to Clear the Grizzbolt Objective

One of Zoe’s first recruitment objectives asks you to speak with her while Grizzbolt is summoned. To clear this, put a captured Grizzbolt in your party, summon it near Zoe, and then talk to her while Grizzbolt is on the field.

The cleanest way to get a Grizzbolt is to capture one from Wildlife Sanctuary No. 1, then bring it back to Desolate Church. If you already have a normal captured Grizzbolt, you can use that instead. The main caveat is that a Grizzbolt obtained through the old tower boss glitch does not count for this objective.

That restriction is the kind of detail that will make the quest look broken when it is not. If Zoe refuses to recognize your Grizzbolt, check where that Grizzbolt came from. A proper captured Grizzbolt should work. A glitch-captured tower version is not treated the same way for this recruitment step.

Where to Find Zoe’s Tattered Memento

Zoe’s Tattered Memento is found at the Fort Ruins. The item is a blanket tied to Zoe’s story, and recovering it is the objective that pushes the quest from a basic checklist into the actual recruitment moment.

After picking up the Tattered Memento, return to Zoe at the Desolate Church and give it back to her. Once this objective is cleared, Zoe opens up and asks to join your adventure. If you have room in your party, Zoe & Grizzbolt can be added directly. If your party is full, they are sent to your Palbox instead.

If they are sent to the Palbox, you have not lost them. Open the Palbox Management Menu and move Zoe & Grizzbolt into your party like any other Pal. Their icon is distinct from normal Grizzbolt and Alpha Grizzbolt, so look for the unit labeled Zoe & Grizzbolt rather than a standard Grizzbolt entry.

Can You Capture Zoe?

You can capture Zoe directly at the Desolate Church with a Pal Sphere, but this is not the same as completing her recruitment quest. Capturing Zoe gives you the human version of Zoe, while the questline gives you Zoe & Grizzbolt as a combined ally unit.

If you attack Zoe while trying to capture her, she will fight back, and capturing her increases your Wanted Status. That means the PIDF can start pursuing you, so this route is messier than simply doing the questline. It is possible, but it is not the cleaner path if your goal is the actual Zoe & Grizzbolt ally.

Version How You Get It What You Actually Receive
Zoe & Grizzbolt Complete Zoe’s recruitment questline Electric ally unit with strong work suitability
Captured Zoe Catch Zoe at Desolate Church with a Pal Sphere Human Zoe with different attacks and base use

The good news is that capturing Zoe does not permanently lock you out of the recruitment questline. Zoe can respawn at the Desolate Church, and you can still talk to her later. You can also catch multiple Zoes because she respawns, though every capture comes with the same Wanted Status problem. Palworld lets you do it, but it is not exactly subtle about the consequences.

How to Get Zoe’s Halloween Costume

After recruiting Zoe & Grizzbolt, return to Zoe at the Desolate Church and talk to her again. This starts the Happy Halloween! mission and gives you Zoe’s Halloween Costume Schematic.

With the schematic in your inventory, go to a workbench and craft the costume. After crafting it, talk to Zoe again to complete the mission. The costume then becomes available through the Pal Dressing Facility.

This is separate from the main recruitment reward, so do not stop checking Zoe immediately after she joins you. If you want the costume, recruit her first, then return for the follow-up mission.

Zoe & Grizzbolt Stats and Work Suitability

After completing Zoe’s recruitment missions, you receive Zoe & Grizzbolt as a unique unit. They are Electric-type and can be used in your party or assigned to a base like other Pals.

Zoe & Grizzbolt Detail Value
Element Electric
Level 1 HP 580
Level 1 Attack 108
Level 1 Defense 59
Passive Skills None
Work Suitability Level
Handiwork 4
Lumbering 3
Transporting 5
Generating Electricity 5

The work suitability is the real reason Zoe & Grizzbolt are more than a novelty recruit. Generating Electricity Level 5 and Transporting Level 5 give them serious base value, while Handiwork Level 4 makes them useful in production setups as well. They are not just a story trophy sitting in your Palbox for decoration.

The captured human Zoe is different. She uses a pink assault rifle, has different attacks and skills, and is only compatible with Handiwork at the base. That makes the recruited Zoe & Grizzbolt unit the better version for most players, especially if you care about actual base utility.

Easiest Way to Get Zoe

The best way to get Zoe in Palworld 1.0 is to complete her Desolate Church recruitment questline rather than capturing her immediately. The quest route gives you Zoe & Grizzbolt, avoids the unnecessary Wanted Status problem, and rewards the version with much stronger base utility.

Capturing Zoe is still useful to know about, especially if you are experimenting or want the human version, but it should not be your default plan. Beat the Rayne Syndicate Tower fight, find Zoe at Desolate Church, bring a valid Grizzbolt, clear the Free Pal Alliance objective, recover the Tattered Memento from Fort Ruins, and then add Zoe & Grizzbolt from your party or Palbox.

That gives you the version of Zoe most players are actually looking for: not just a captured NPC, but a unique ally unit with Grizzbolt, strong Electric utility, and enough base value to justify keeping them active after the questline ends.
