This guide will help you level up your Ranged skill from 1 to 99 (or even 120) in RuneScape 3 (RS3). It’s simple and easy to follow, even if you’re just starting. Let’s get going!

Before You Start

1. Armor

  • Tier 1–60: Use the best armor you can afford. Don't waste money on Armadyl Armor (tier 70); it’s expensive. Instead, upgrade to Anima Core of Zamorak (tier 80) when you reach level 80, which is about 10M cheaper as of now (25M vs 35M).

  • Tier 90 Armor: Surprisingly, Serenic Armor (tier 90) is very affordable and a great upgrade when you can use it. It does, however, degrade over time, so be aware.

2. Weapons

  • Chinchompas: Unlock at level 45. These explosive weapons make every ability hit multiple enemies, greatly speeding up training.

  • Crossbows: Use the best-tier dual-wield crossbows or a two-handed bow you can afford.

3. Helpful Items

  • Salve Amulet: Boosts damage and accuracy by 20% against undead enemies.

  • Vampyrism Aura: Heals you based on the damage you deal.

  • Aggression Potions: Makes monsters attack you automatically, so you don’t have to chase them.

  • Cannon: Speeds up kills but costs money to maintain.

4. Ability Bar

Use this setup for Ranged abilities:

  • Add Corruption Shot and Greater Ricochet if you can afford them.

  • Replace Greater Ricochet with regular Ricochet if needed.

Leveling Guide

Levels 1–28: Start with Quests

  • Quests to Complete:

    • The Blood Pact: Gives a free charge bow with infinite arrows.

    • Dwarf Cannon: Unlocks the ability to use a cannon.

    • Shadow of the Storm: Rewards enough XP to reach level 28.

Levels 28–40: Skeletons or Hill Giants

  • Option 1: Skeletons:

    • Location: Lumbridge Catacombs (unlocked by The Blood Pact quest).

    • Tips: Use a Salve Amulet for extra damage.

  • Option 2: Hill Giants:

    • Location: Edgeville Dungeon.

    • Tips: Bring food if needed.

Levels 40–50: Ghouls or Pyrefiends

  • Option 1: Ghouls:

    • Location: Northwest of Canifis Lodestone.

    • Tips: Attack them one by one.

  • Option 2: Pyrefiends (requires 35 Slayer):

    • Location: Fremennik Slayer Dungeon.

    • Tips: Use food and gear upgrades if needed.

Levels 50–60: Abyss or Ankous

  • Option 1: Abyss:

    • Location: Accessed via the Zamorak Mage north of Edgeville.

    • Tips:

      • Use Chinchompas to hit multiple enemies.

      • Bring Vampyrism Aura for healing.

  • Option 2: Ankous:

    • Location: Stronghold of Security.

    • Tips: Use a Salve Amulet for extra damage.

Levels 60–75: Bound Skeletons or Hellhounds

  • Option 1: Bound Skeletons:

    • Location: North of Fort Forinthry.

    • Tips: These undead mobs are weak to Chinchompas. Use a Salve Amulet.

  • Option 2: Hellhounds:

    • Location: Taverley Dungeon.

    • Tips: These drop hard clue scrolls, which are great for making money.

Levels 75–99 (or 120): Abyss, Abyssal Demons, or Waterfiends

  • Option 1: Abyss:

    • Location: North of Edgeville.

    • Tips: This is the best AFK option if you don’t have Slayer levels.

  • Option 2: Abyssal Demons (requires 85 Slayer):

    • Location: Wilderness Obelisk, level 17.

    • Tips: Use Chinchompas for fast kills.

  • Option 3: Waterfiends:

    • Location:

      • Option 1: Whirlpool Dungeon near Barbarian Outpost.

      • Option 2: East Wilderness near Daemonheim.

    • Tips:

      • Use Blood Spells and Vampyrism Aura for sustain.

      • Great for gathering blue charms for Summoning.

Level 90+: Bossing

  • Options:

    • Arch-Glacor: Good for practice and decent XP.

    • Kalphite King: Fun and profitable boss with decent XP rates.

Final Tips

  1. Upgrade Gear Often: Better weapons and armor make a huge difference in training speed.

  2. Use Chinchompas: They make your abilities hit multiple enemies, saving you time.

  3. Stay Safe in the Wilderness: Avoid high-risk areas unless you’re comfortable with potential PvP encounters.

Follow this guide, and you’ll level your Ranged skill quickly. Happy training!
