Who knew a $15 price tag could bring a five-year-old game back to the top of the charts? Thanks to Rockstar’s recent sale, Red Dead Redemption 2 just hit a new concurrent player peak on Steam with 86,717 players, smashing its old record of 77,655 from November 2023. Guess cowboys are officially back in style.

Why the Surge?

Simple: Rockstar put the game on sale for a ridiculous 75% off. For $15, you get a game that’s won over 175 awards, sold 67 million copies, and made people cry over a virtual horse. Let’s be honest—it’s one of the best deals in gaming right now.

A Quick History Lesson

Red Dead Redemption 2 debuted in October 2018 for consoles and moseyed over to PC a year later in November 2019. Since then, it’s been hailed as a masterpiece of storytelling, world-building, and cowboy hat physics.

Meanwhile, in Rockstar Land...

The gaming world is collectively holding its breath for GTA 6. It’s allegedly coming in 2025, but with no updates from Rockstar, fans are starting to wonder if it’s more “Grand Theft Auto” or “Grand Taking Forever.” One developer even made a parody game on Steam called Grand Taking Ages. Ouch.

Should You Grab RDR2 for $15?

At this price, why not? It’s cheaper than a fast-food meal and a lot less greasy. But if your heart’s set on GTA 6, you might want to settle in—it could be a long wait.
