Fishing zones in RimWorld Odyssey let your pawns catch fish from rivers, lakes, and oceans. You need the Fishing research unlocked, and the zone must be placed directly over a water tile that has fish. Bigger bodies of water give better results.
How Fishing Zones Work
After unlocking the Fishing research, you can create a fishing zone under the Zone menu.
The zone must be placed over natural water that contains fish. Not all water tiles qualify. Swamps, deltas, and rivers usually work best. Ponds or shallow water may not have fish unless the map supports it.
Once placed, pawns with the Hunting work type enabled will use the zone to catch fish. They stand near the zone edge, cast their line, and bring in food after a short wait. Fish caught are treated like any other raw meat and stored or cooked normally.
Fishing zones don’t require materials to build. You can place as many as you want, but each one only supports one pawn at a time.

Deltas are hit or miss but usually have fish
Flooded tiles might work if the flood came after placing the zone
You cannot fish in artificial water or water added via terrain tools or mods unless it is coded to contain fish. Shallow decorative water is useless for fishing zones.
