SAND Raiders of Sophie Best Weapons Tier List
The best weapon in SAND: Raiders of Sophie is the 866/9 Rifle because it works in the widest range of fights. The 1874 Petros is better for boarding, the Anti-Reactor Rifle is better against Tramplers, and the M82 is better for long angles, but the 866/9 Rifle is the safest S-tier weapon for normal runs.
This tier list is based on how useful each weapon feels across a full expedition. SAND fights rarely stay clean. A run can move from looting ruins, to defending the Trampler, to pushing another crew, to extracting under pressure. The best weapon is not always the one with the highest damage. It is the one that still works when the fight changes.

SAND Raiders Of Sophie Best Weapons Tier List
The best weapons in SAND: Raiders of Sophie are the 866/9 Rifle, 1874 Petros, Anti-Reactor Rifle, M82, EB Revolver, Blitz Pistol, and Timed Bombs.
| Tier | Weapons | Why They Rank Here |
|---|---|---|
| S Tier | 866/9 Rifle | Best all-around weapon for most fights and normal loot runs. |
| A Tier | 1874 Petros, Anti-Reactor Rifle | Excellent weapons with specific jobs, but less flexible than the 866/9 Rifle. |
| B Tier | M82, Timed Bombs, EB Revolver | Useful in the right situation, but not ideal as the main answer to every fight. |
| C Tier | Blitz Pistol | Fine early, but should be replaced once stronger options are available. |
I would not rank these only by damage. That is usually how tier lists get weird in extraction games. A weapon can hit hard and still be awkward if it only works in one type of fight. SAND rewards weapons that help bring loot home, not weapons that only look good in a perfect duel.
S Tier Weapons
The 866/9 Rifle is the only S-tier weapon because it is the best overall choice for most players.
It works at the ranges that come up most often. It is useful while moving through points of interest, watching open paths, defending the Trampler, and fighting players before they get close enough to force a boarding fight. It does not need the perfect angle or the perfect setup to feel useful.
That is why I would take the 866/9 Rifle over flashier options for a normal run. It may not be the most exciting weapon in the game, but it has the fewest bad situations. In an extraction game, that matters more than people want to admit.
If only one main weapon is coming into the expedition, I would bring the 866/9 Rifle.
A Tier Weapons
The 1874 Petros and Anti-Reactor Rifle are A-tier weapons because they are extremely strong in the right situations.
The 1874 Petros is the best boarding weapon. It is made for tight fights inside Tramplers, around ladders, near doors, and in cramped paths where one good close-range shot can decide the fight. If another crew gets inside your Trampler, this is one of the best weapons to have ready.
The reason it is not S tier is simple: not every fight is a boarding fight. If the enemy stays at range or the fight starts in open ground, the 866/9 Rifle is easier to trust.
The Anti-Reactor Rifle is the best weapon when the goal is to hurt the machine, not just the crew. It can pressure Tramplers, punish exposed parts, and create panic when another crew suddenly has to repair or reposition. I like it much more as a squad role weapon than as a solo default.
Both A-tier weapons are excellent. They just need the run to give them the right job.
B Tier Weapons
The M82, Timed Bombs, and EB Revolver are B-tier because they are useful, but more limited.
The M82 is the best long-angle weapon. It makes sense for overwatch, covering a teammate, holding an extraction approach, or punishing players who move too carelessly in open space. The issue is that SAND fights can collapse into close-range chaos fast. When that happens, a long-range weapon can feel clunky.
Timed Bombs are strong utility, especially around doors, legs, boarding routes, and desperate finishes. I would not treat them like a main weapon, but they can absolutely swing a fight if used at the right moment. They are best when the plan is clear before the fight starts.
The EB Revolver is a solid backup. It is not the weapon I want carrying the whole run, but it is useful enough as a sidearm or budget option. Sometimes simple is fine, especially if the main goal is getting in, grabbing loot, and leaving without spending too much.
C Tier Weapons
The Blitz Pistol is C tier because it is mostly an early or budget weapon.
It can get the job done when better weapons are not available, but it is not something I would build a serious run around. Once stronger options are unlocked or affordable, the Blitz Pistol should usually move into backup status or get replaced entirely.
That does not mean it is useless. Early weapons still matter when the goal is learning the game, running cheap, or avoiding the pain of losing better gear. It just does not compete with the 866/9 Rifle, Petros, Anti-Reactor Rifle, or M82 once the run gets more serious.
Best Weapon For Solo Players
The best solo weapon in SAND: Raiders of Sophie is the 866/9 Rifle.
Solo players need consistency more than anything else. There is no teammate watching the other angle, no one defending the Trampler while inventory is being sorted, and no backup if extraction turns bad. A solo weapon has to work when the fight is sudden and messy.
The 866/9 Rifle fits that better than the more specialized options. The Petros is better if the whole plan is boarding or defending tight spaces, and the M82 is better if the plan is to hold long sightlines, but both are more situational.
If playing with friends, weapon roles can be split more easily. Our SAND Raiders of Sophie player count guide covers solo play, squad size, and how many players can be in each match.
What Weapon Should You Use?
Most players should use the 866/9 Rifle for normal runs, then switch weapons based on the goal of the expedition.
| Goal | Best Weapon |
|---|---|
| Normal loot run | 866/9 Rifle |
| Boarding enemy Tramplers | 1874 Petros |
| Defending your own Trampler | 1874 Petros or 866/9 Rifle |
| Fighting enemy Tramplers | Anti-Reactor Rifle |
| Covering extraction | M82 or 866/9 Rifle |
| Budget run | EB Revolver or Blitz Pistol |
| Door traps or setup plays | Timed Bombs |
The right answer depends on what the run is trying to do. If the goal is a safe loot run, use the 866/9 Rifle. If the plan is to board, bring the 1874 Petros. If the crew is hunting Tramplers, bring the Anti-Reactor Rifle. If someone needs to watch long angles during extraction, the M82 makes more sense.
Before bringing better weapons into a serious run, make sure the escape plan is clear. Our SAND Raiders of Sophie extraction guide explains how to find an exit, use the radio tower, and leave with your loot.
The short answer is simple: the 866/9 Rifle is S tier and the best weapon overall. The 1874 Petros is the best boarding weapon, the Anti-Reactor Rifle is the best anti-Trampler weapon, and the M82 is the best long-range support weapon. For most players, the 866/9 Rifle is the weapon to trust first.
