The Italian Job is a main quest in KCD2 where you play as Godwin, disguised as the Papal Legate, and infiltrate The Italian Court to steal Sigismund’s silver. You’ll be working with Henry, Hans Capon, Janosh Uher, and Adder to complete this mission.
How to Start The Italian Job
This quest begins after completing Oratores.
You will automatically switch to playing as Godwin at the start.
The location is Ruthard’s Palace in Kuttenberg.
Step 1: Infiltrate The Italian Court
Follow Jerome Naaz inside the palace.
You must walk slowly and act like a Papal Legate.
Along the way, you will meet Giuseppe Cabrini, an Italian. If you have 26 Scholarship, you can speak Italian to fool him.
Henry, Hans, and Adder will go to the kitchen, while you and Janosh Uher head to the Banquet Hall.
Step 2: Handle the Church Dispute
Inside the Banquet Hall, the priests will be discussing a church conflict.
Choose the correct dialogue options:
The Pope is on the side of the Brotherhood.
Offer to discuss the issue further.
To improve your Latin skills, drink wine before speaking more.
Talk to Father Peter and the other priests to complete this phase.
When the cook arrives, praise the food and choose:
Scholarship: "Everything" (Success at 25)
Persuasion: "Take a guess"
Give a closing speech, supporting Musa of Mali and choosing "Papal Authority" as your justification.
This will complete the first phase, and the quest will switch to Henry’s perspective.
Step 3: Attack The Italian Court (Henry’s Part)
You will be with Hans Capon and Adder to take out the guards.
Climb up the balcony and take out the first guard.
Sneak up behind the patrolling guard and take him out quietly.
Move to the courtyard, eliminating guards one by one.
Secure the west gate with the help of Hans and Janosh.
Step 4: Find and Rescue Adder
Adder has been caught in a scandal with a female cook, and her husband Giuseppe is furious.
You can either:
Persuade Giuseppe to let it go.
Fight him if persuasion fails.
If you defeat Giuseppe, loot the Italian Court Armoury Key from his body.
Step 5: Find the Secret Passage in the Cellar
Head down to the cellar and look for a breakable wall.
You will find barrels of black powder nearby.
Interact with the wall to reveal a passage to the crypt.
Step 6: Free the Lords and Escape
Find Csaba and convince him to release the prisoners using:
Persuasion (We don’t have to fight.)
Presence (You don’t stand a chance against us.)
Impression (Join our side.)
If you fail, you must fight Csaba.
After freeing the lords, return to the wall to speak with Jan Zizka.
Erik’s army will attack, and you must hold them off while your team steals the silver.
Step 7: Defend Against Erik’s Men
First phase: Knock down enemy ladders to stall the attack.
Second phase: Defend the outer bailey, prioritizing enemies in red armor.
Third phase: Fight Erik’s men in the courtyard.
If you helped Musa of Mali earlier, he will assist you here.
The group will escape into a hidden passage.
Step 8: Confront Vauquelin Brabant
Brabant betrays you and tries to escape with the stolen silver.
Fight Brabant’s men in the courtyard.
Find a way around by heading northwest and climbing the spiral staircase.
Defend the balcony while more enemies keep coming.
Eventually, Brabant escapes with the silver, ending the battle.
Step 9: Complete the Quest
Jan Zizka orders the men to carry Adder as they leave for Suchdol Fortress.
Adder insists on staying behind to pray.
This marks the completion of The Italian Job, and the next quest Civitas Pragensis begins.
Final Notes
Talking your way through situations is often better than fighting.
Drinking wine improves Latin speech checks.
Helping Musa of Mali affects later events in the quest.
You can loot weapons, armor, and rare items from the Italian Court.
Brabant escapes with the silver no matter what you do.
This quest is one of the most action-packed in the game, mixing diplomacy, stealth, and combat. Now, move on to the next challenge in KCD2.
