In KCD2, you can quickly use food and potions through the hotbar, but you won’t have access to it until you equip a pouch. Here’s how to get a pouch and how to use it.

Step 1: Get a Pouch

  • Pouches can be looted from enemies or bought from merchants.

  • The best places to buy them are:

    • Cobblers (repair shoe merchants).

    • Saddlers (horse equipment merchants).

  • An early good option is the Knight’s Pouch (sold by Cobbler Matthew in Trosky Castle), which provides three hotbar slots.

Step 2: Equip the Pouch

  1. Open your inventory and find the pouch in the equipment section.

  2. Equip it to unlock hotbar slots.

  3. The number of slots depends on the pouch—maximum is four.

Step 3: Assign Items to the Hotbar

Once a pouch is equipped, you can assign food or potions to quick-use slots.

  • On PlayStation/Xbox:

    • Press Right on the D-pad to open the hotbar.

    • Use Left or Right to select an item.

    • The last item selected stays in the first slot.

  • On PC:

    • Press 5, 6, 7, or 8 to use the corresponding hotbar slots.

Step 4: Use Items from the Hotbar

  • Food: Keep dried meat or snacks in a slot for quick nourishment.

  • Potions: Some potions have timed combat effects, so keeping them in the hotbar helps use them without pausing the game.

Upgrading Pouch Capacity

  • Better pouches = more slots.

  • You can check the number of available slots by hovering over the pouch in your inventory.

  • The maximum is four slots, so always prioritize upgrading when possible.

With a pouch equipped, you can heal, buff, or eat on the go without fumbling through menus. It’s a simple but essential upgrade for any playstyle.
