Under the Straw Hat is a side task in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 where you get a taste of medieval vineyard labor. It’s a simple but time-sensitive quest that requires you to work in a monastery vineyard and earn your wage—assuming you don’t slack off. Here’s a simple quest guide and walkthrough.
How to Start the Quest
This task automatically starts during the side quest In Vino Veritas when you get hired at the vineyard.
You cannot start this task at any other time.
Step 1: Talk to Jerome the Caretaker
After getting hired, find Jerome in the vineyard and speak to him about the work.
If you arrive in the evening, Jerome will tell you to wait until morning and show you a sleeping spot.
Step 2: Work in the Monastery Vineyard
Work starts at 6:00 AM and runs until 6:00 PM.
Your job is picking weeds between the vines and carrying sacks to a designated area.
The sacks are found in three fenced areas in the west part of the vineyard.
If you’re also doing In Vino Veritas, this is a good time to complete it since the vineyard is no longer considered a private area.
Fast-Tracking the Work
To do just enough work and still get paid:
Carry a sack.
Skip one hour in-game.
Repeat until around 5:00 PM.
Don’t skip past 6:00 PM, or Jerome will be mad and you’ll fail the task.
Step 3: Collect Your Wage
At 6:00 PM, talk to Jerome again to get paid (5 Groschen).
If you didn’t work enough, you won’t get paid, and the task fails.
Final Notes
This is an easy but time-sensitive task.
You can do just enough work or go full medieval and work the whole 12-hour shift.
The vineyard is a great spot to complete other objectives in In Vino Veritas.
