Witchspire How To Fly: Broom And Flight Guide
To fly in Witchspire, follow the main quest until you reach the far west side of the island, defeat the Al’uunian Golem, use the Tear of Al’uun to upgrade your Hearth, unlock and craft a broom, activate a Flight Pillar, then equip the broom in your character menu.
Flight is one of the biggest unlocks in Witchspire because it makes travel much faster and lets you reach high places that are awkward or impossible to access on foot. It is not available right away, though. The game makes you progress through a chunk of the main quest before the broom system fully opens.

How To Unlock Flight
Flight unlocks after you progress the main quest far enough to reach the western side of the island and complete the broom setup chain.
The short version is:
| Step | What To Do |
|---|---|
| 1 | Follow the main quest to the far west side of the island |
| 2 | Enter the portal near Vyer’s Edge or the West Ruins |
| 3 | Defeat the Level 10 Al’uunian Golem |
| 4 | Collect the Tear of Al’uun |
| 5 | Upgrade your Hearth to Level 4 |
| 6 | Unlock the Spinner and broom recipe in Luminaries |
| 7 | Activate a Flight Pillar |
| 8 | Craft and equip your broom |
That looks like a lot, but most of it comes naturally if you keep following the main quest. The main thing is not to assume you can craft a broom as soon as you see the recipe path. You also need the Hearth upgrade and the Flight Pillar activation.
Defeat The Al’uunian Golem
The first major step toward flying is defeating the Al’uunian Golem and getting the Tear of Al’uun.
Keep following the main quest until it sends you toward the far west side of the island. The area may be labeled around Vyer’s Edge or the West Ruins, depending on what part of the quest you are on. Once you get there, look for the portal connected to the main objective.
Entering the portal sends you into the boss encounter against the Al’uunian Golem. This boss is Level 10, so do not rush in if you are still underleveled or barely surviving normal enemies.
A wand makes the fight much easier. Keep your distance, use ranged attacks, and let your familiar help whenever possible. If you are trying to fight the Golem up close with weak gear, the fight can become annoying fast.
Before entering the portal, try to bring:
| Preparation | Why It Helps |
|---|---|
| A wand | Lets you damage the Golem from a safer distance |
| A leveled familiar | Adds pressure and keeps the boss from only focusing on you |
| Healing petals or potions | Gives you room to recover from bad hits |
| Level 8 to 10 or higher | Makes the fight much less punishing |
Once the Al’uunian Golem is defeated, collect the Tear of Al’uun. This is the important material needed to push into the broom and flight unlock chain.
Unlock The Broom Recipe
After getting the Tear of Al’uun, return to your base and upgrade your Hearth until it reaches Level 4.
The broom recipe is tied to Hearth progression, so this step is required. The Tear of Al’uun is used as part of the upgrade path, which means the boss fight is not optional if you want normal flight access.
Once your Hearth is Level 4, open your Luminaries and unlock the crafting path toward the broom. You will need to unlock the Spinner first, then the broom recipe after it.
When the broom recipe unlocks, the game points out another important step: you need to activate an Al’uunian Flight Pillar before the broom can actually be used for flight.
That is the part that can trip players up. Crafting the broom is not always enough by itself. The pillar gives the broom the magic it needs to work.
Activate The Flight Pillar
To activate flight in Witchspire, go to the nearby Flight Pillar and interact with the glowing orb connected to it.
After unlocking the broom recipe, check your map for the Flight Pillar marker. The first one should be close by, usually to the north. You are not looking for the pillar itself at ground level first. Instead, go to the small island next to it.
Once you reach the small island, climb the stairs. At the top, look for an orb with a rainbow light or beam leading toward the Flight Pillar. Interact with that orb to activate the pillar.
After the pillar lights up, flight is enabled for that island area. This is the moment where the broom system actually starts coming together.
Craft And Equip The Broom
After the Flight Pillar is active, craft a Simple Broom at the Witchcraft Circle.
The Simple Broom requires Spirit Dust and Fine Wood. Spirit Dust comes from normal progression and defeated enemies. Fine Wood comes from larger, thick-trunked trees, not the smaller basic trees around the early area.
A good Fine Wood source is near the first abandoned Hearth area. Look for a large tree with a thicker trunk, then cut it down. If you cannot cut it yet, make sure you have the correct logging tool crafted first.
| Broom Requirement | How To Get It |
|---|---|
| Spirit Dust | Defeat enemies and gather it through normal progression |
| Fine Wood | Cut thick-trunked trees with the proper logging tool |
| Witchcraft Circle | Build and use it as your broom crafting station |
| Basic Broom recipe | Unlock it in Luminaries after upgrading your Hearth |
Once the broom is crafted, open the character menu and equip it in the broom slot. On keyboard, press V to start flying. With a controller, use the broom input shown by the game once the broom is equipped.
After that, you can fly around the island, reach high areas, cross gaps more easily, and travel much faster than walking.
Why Flight Is Not Working
If flight is not working in Witchspire, you probably missed one step in the unlock chain.
Check these first:
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| You have no broom recipe | Upgrade your Hearth to Level 4 and unlock the recipe in Luminaries |
| You cannot upgrade the Hearth | Defeat the Al’uunian Golem and collect the Tear of Al’uun |
| You crafted a broom but cannot fly | Activate the Flight Pillar near the broom unlock area |
| The broom is in your inventory | Equip it in the broom slot from the character menu |
| You cannot craft the broom | Gather Spirit Dust and Fine Wood, then use the Witchcraft Circle |
The most common mistake is crafting or unlocking the broom before activating the Flight Pillar. The broom needs the pillar’s magic before it can properly let you fly.
Final Blurb
To fly in Witchspire, follow the main quest to the western ruins, defeat the Level 10 Al’uunian Golem, collect the Tear of Al’uun, upgrade your Hearth to Level 4, unlock the Spinner and broom recipe, activate the nearby Flight Pillar, then craft and equip a Simple Broom.
Once the broom is equipped, press V on keyboard to fly. Flight makes Witchspire much easier to explore, so it is worth unlocking as soon as the main quest points you toward the Golem and the first Flight Pillar.
