Witchspire: How To Mine Ore

Witchspire: How To Mine Ore

To mine in Witchspire, you need to unlock and craft the Witch's Pickaxe, place it on your hotbar, then use it on ore nodes around the map. The Witch's Pickaxe is unlocked through the Luminaries Skill Tree after reaching Hearth Level 2, and early ore nodes can give resources like Copper Ore, Stone, and later Iron Ore depending on where you mine.

How To Mine In Witchspire

Mining in Witchspire starts after you get the Witch's Pickaxe. Once you have it, equip the pickaxe from your hotbar, walk up to an ore node, and use the pickaxe on it like you would attack or interact with a resource object.

The game does not let you mine ore with basic gathering alone. If you are walking up to rocks and nothing useful is happening, the problem is probably that you do not have the Witch's Pickaxe yet, or you are hitting the wrong kind of rock.

Step What To Do
1 Upgrade your Hearth to Level 2.
2 Unlock the Witch's Pickaxe in the Luminaries Skill Tree.
3 Craft the Witch's Pickaxe at a Workbench.
4 Put the pickaxe on your hotbar.
5 Find an ore node and use the pickaxe on it.

Mining is mainly a progression gate. Once you can mine ore, you can start turning raw ore into ingots, which are needed for stronger tools, weapon upgrades, Hearth upgrades, and better crafting options.

How To Get The Witch's Pickaxe

To get the Witch's Pickaxe in Witchspire, upgrade your Hearth to Level 2, then unlock the Witch's Pickaxe from the Luminaries Skill Tree. After that, craft it at a Workbench.

The Hearth matters because a lot of early crafting progress is locked behind Hearth upgrades. If mining is not available yet, keep pushing your base progression instead of wandering around the map wondering why every rock is being rude.

Requirement Details
Hearth Level Hearth Level 2
Unlock Location Luminaries Skill Tree
Crafting Station Workbench

Focus on early quests, gathering resources, and upgrading your Hearth before worrying too much about ore. Witchspire is a survival-crafting game, so mining opens up after you have built enough of the early foundation.

Witch's Pickaxe Recipe

The Witch's Pickaxe recipe requires 1 Gemstone, 10 Froblin Goo, and 10 Carapace. Once you have the recipe unlocked, bring those materials to a Workbench to craft it.

Item Recipe Where To Get Materials
Witch's Pickaxe 1 Gemstone, 10 Froblin Goo, 10 Carapace Froblin Goo comes from Froblins at Froblin Camps. Carapace comes from Specra enemies along the beach.

If you are short on Froblin Goo, clear Froblin Camps. If you are short on Carapace, look for Specra enemies along the beach. These materials are worth farming early because the pickaxe unlocks the whole mining chain.

How To Find Ore Nodes

Ore nodes in Witchspire look like large dark rocks with metal sticking out of them. Copper Ore nodes have visible copper-colored pieces protruding from the rock, which makes them easier to spot once you know what to look for.

Do not confuse ore nodes with random rocks or scenery. Mineable ore nodes are more distinct, and they should give materials like Stone and Copper Ore when hit with the Witch's Pickaxe.

Node Type What It Looks Like What You Get
Copper Ore node Large dark rock with copper protruding from it. Copper Ore and Stone.
Iron Ore node Found later in places like Shard Caverns. Iron Ore and other mining materials.

The visual clue is the important part. If the rock looks like normal terrain, it may not be mineable. If it looks like a chunky resource node with visible ore, pull out the pickaxe and start bullying it for materials.

Where To Find Copper Ore

Early Copper Ore can be found around small mountain areas, and a better mining spot becomes available in Shard Caverns in the Timberline Basin region. Shard Caverns is useful because it has both Copper Ore and Iron Ore.

To reach Shard Caverns, go to the Al'uunian Tower south of Timberline Basin when the main story sends you there. Use the portal, follow the path to the right, and eventually drop down into the caverns.

Mining Location Resources Why It Is Useful
Small mountain areas Copper Ore and Stone Good for early Copper Ore once you have the Witch's Pickaxe.
Shard Caverns Copper Ore and Iron Ore Better when you want multiple ore types in one trip.
Timberline Basin route Access to Shard Caverns Useful after the main story points you toward the Al'uunian Tower.

Once you find a good mining spot, remember it. Witchspire's map does not do all the resource tracking work for you, so mental notes matter. The game wants you to become the kind of person who remembers where rocks live. That is survival crafting. We do not question it.

How To Smelt Ore

After mining ore, you need a Furnace to turn raw ore into ingots. For Copper Ingots, place Copper Ore into the Furnace with Charcoal. Each Copper Ingot requires 2 Copper Ore and 1 Charcoal.

Crafting Result Recipe Station
Copper Ingot 2 Copper Ore, 1 Charcoal Furnace
Charcoal Burn Wood at the Furnace Furnace

You also need to unlock and build the Furnace before the ore chain becomes useful. The Furnace is unlocked through the Luminaries Skill Tree once your Hearth is at least Level 2, then built from the build menu.

Building Recipe Use
Furnace 5 Fine Wood, 1 Cinderbloom, 10 Stone Smelts ore into ingots and burns Wood into Charcoal.

Fine Wood is one of the main materials needed for the Furnace. If you are stuck there, the Witchspire Fine Wood location guide explains where to find Fine Wood and how to harvest it.

Witchspire Mining Tips

The best mining tip in Witchspire is to treat mining as part of a full crafting chain. You are not done when you find Copper Ore. You still need the Furnace, Charcoal, and enough raw ore to smelt the ingots you actually need.

Tip Why It Helps
Upgrade your Hearth first The Witch's Pickaxe and Furnace are tied to Hearth Level 2 progression.
Farm Froblin Goo and Carapace early Both are needed for the Witch's Pickaxe recipe.
Put the pickaxe on your hotbar Makes mining faster and less annoying.
Look for dark rocks with visible ore These are the ore nodes you need to mine.
Bring healing supplies Mining routes can take you near enemies and camps.
Use Shard Caverns for multiple ores It has Copper Ore and Iron Ore in the same general area.
Make Charcoal before smelting Copper Ingots require Charcoal, not just Copper Ore.

It is also worth gathering normal resources while you travel. Stone, Wood, flowers, enemy drops, and crafting materials all feed into the same upgrade loop. Mining is not separate from the rest of Witchspire. It is just the part where the game finally lets you hit rocks with a job title.

Final Blurb

To mine in Witchspire, upgrade your Hearth to Level 2, unlock the Witch's Pickaxe in the Luminaries Skill Tree, craft it at a Workbench, then use it on ore nodes around the map. Copper Ore nodes look like large dark rocks with copper sticking out of them.

After mining Copper Ore, build a Furnace and smelt 2 Copper Ore with 1 Charcoal to make 1 Copper Ingot. Once you unlock Shard Caverns, use it as a stronger mining spot because it contains both Copper Ore and Iron Ore.
