WoW How to Make House Bigger
World of Warcraft

Your first house in World of Warcraft starts small, but it doesn’t have to stay that way. With a few upgrades and some leveling, you can turn that single-room starter home into a multi-room masterpiece.

Making Your House Bigger

To expand your home, open the Housing Dashboard and go into Edit Floorplan Mode. This mode lets you add new rooms and floors using Connection Nodes that attach to your current layout. Each new room costs part of your Room Placement Budget shown in the top right corner. When that budget runs out, you’ll need to level up your house before adding more.

Leveling happens by earning Neighborhood Favor. You get this by collecting uncommon or higher quality decor for the first time. Once you level up, your Room Placement Budget and Decor Budget both increase, letting you build bigger and decorate more.

Unlocking Room Sizes

As your housing level rises, you unlock more room types and layouts.

  • Level 1 starts with a single small room

  • Level 2 raises your decor limit

  • Level 3 unlocks additional small and medium rooms

  • Level 4 adds the large octagonal room

  • Level 5 unlocks the large square room, the biggest available right now

Each new level gives more flexibility when designing your home. Focus on decor collection if you want to reach the higher tiers faster.

Building and Decorating Tips

Inside your plot, click Edit House to enter Decor Mode. You can move, rotate, or scale furniture using Advanced Mode. Use Customize Mode to recolor walls, floors, and ceilings. When you want to build outward, switch back to Edit Floorplan Mode and connect rooms from existing ones.

You can also customize your home’s outside. Select Edit House Exterior to change roof and wall styles, add fixtures like windows and chimneys, or reposition your entrance anywhere on your plot.

Leveling for More Space

The key to bigger builds is housing XP. Keep collecting new decor, since duplicates don’t count toward leveling. You can earn decor from achievements, dungeon drops, vendors, and reputation rewards. After the Midnight update, Neighborhood Endeavors will also grant housing XP.

If you own both Horde and Alliance houses, complete the tutorial and upgrades on each side to sync progress. Each faction house levels separately until you finish both.

Final Blurb

Expanding your house in WoW takes a mix of creativity and progress. Level up to boost your room limits, use Edit Floorplan to grow your layout, and keep collecting new decor to fuel upgrades. Once you reach level 5, you’ll have all the space you need to build a true Azeroth mansion.
