X Marks the Spot is a treasure hunt task in KCD2 where you buy a map from Krizhan and follow it to find riches—or so you think…

Here’s a quick guide and walkthrough on how to complete the task.

Step 1: Get the Treasure Map

  • Travel to Pschitoky and find Hired Hand Krizhan.

  • Talk to him and choose:

    • "Are you looking for help with the construction?"

    • "But don’t you have some work?"

  • He will mention a treasure map and offer to sell it for 100 Groschen.

Step 2: Follow the Map

  • Open your inventory and inspect Krizhan’s Treasure Map.

  • The map leads north of Kuttenberg.

  • Travel to the marked location, where you will find a bandit camp near a tunnel entrance.

Step 3: Deal with the Bandits

  • Defeat the bandits at the camp.

  • Loot their bodies—you’ll find a Bandit’s Treasure Map, which is identical to Krizhan’s map.

Step 4: Search the Tunnel

  • Enter the tunnel, expecting to find treasure.

  • Instead, you’ll find graves but no treasure.

  • This confirms the map was fake.

Step 5: Confront Krizhan

  • Return to Pschitoky and talk to Krizhan.

  • He will claim he didn’t know the map was fake.

  • You now have three options:

    • Accept the loss and leave.

    • Demand your money back by choosing "My patience is growing thin!"

    • Threaten or attack Krizhan with "Then you’re in trouble!" to get your 100 Groschen back.

Final Notes

  • There is no real treasure—this is a scam quest.

  • You can get your money back by intimidating or attacking Krizhan.

  • The bandit map is also fake, meaning they were likely scammed too.

  • The task completes after confronting Krizhan, whether or not you recover your money.

This quest is a classic medieval scam. At least you got some combat practice with the bandits.
