Moon Sweepers JOONAS Range: How Far Does It Clean?

JOONAS has an unlimited cleaning range across the entire Moon in Moon Sweepers, unlike the smaller Robot Vacuums that operate within fixed areas. The $20,000 robot automatically travels toward the nearest dusty hex and can send collected resources to Capsule Catchers anywhere on the Moon. However, its control panel has a separate interaction range.

What Is the JOONAS Cleaning Range in Moon Sweepers?

JOONAS can clean the entire Moon rather than remaining within a limited radius around its starting location. It automatically moves toward the nearest hex that still contains dust, clearing the surface one hex at a time.

Its six cleaning arms provide a 5.6-meter cleaning width, with a cleaning speed of 2 m/s and a travel speed of 3 m/s.

That 5.6-meter figure describes how wide an area JOONAS cleans as it moves, not its maximum operating distance. You don't need to relocate it to extend its coverage to another part of the Moon.

Does JOONAS Have a Capsule Delivery Range?

JOONAS can fire collected dust capsules toward the nearest Capsule Catcher anywhere on the Moon. There is no separate distance restriction listed for its capsule deliveries.

The robot has a 60 kg internal bin and sends dust in 20 kg capsules. However, it still depends on having a Capsule Catcher available.

If no Capsule Catcher has been built, JOONAS waits once its bin reaches capacity. Its unlimited cleaning coverage doesn't mean it can operate indefinitely without somewhere to send the collected dust.

JOONAS Control Panel Range

The control panel has a much shorter interaction distance of 12 meters. You must be within that range and aim at the robot to open its panel.

This limit only concerns interacting with JOONAS, not how far it can travel or clean.

JOONAS Range vs. Robot Vacuum Range

The biggest advantage of JOONAS is that its coverage isn't tied to a small, fixed cleaning area.

Robot Cleaning Coverage Price
Robot Vacuum Mk I 19 hexes $250
Robot Vacuum Mk II 37 hexes $500
JOONAS Entire Moon $20,000

If your main priority is cleaning beyond a fixed area, JOONAS is the clear choice. Its $20,000 price is substantially higher, but you're paying for a robot that can independently seek out remaining dust across the Moon.

For smaller cleaning areas, the cheaper Robot Vacuums may be sufficient. For more details on the larger robot, see our Moon Sweepers JOONAS Guide.
