Moon Sweepers Save Location (PC & Steam)

The Moon Sweepers save location on Windows PC is inside the AppData folder, under DragDropGames. Your Steam save data is stored in a folder called MoonSessions, which you can access directly through File Explorer. Here's the exact location and how to find your saved games.

Moon Sweepers Save File Location on PC

The exact Moon Sweepers Steam save location is:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\DragDropGames\MoonSweepers\MoonSessions

This is the save directory configured for the game's Steam Cloud file synchronization.

The MoonSessions folder is where you should look for your saved session data. It's separate from the Steam installation directory, so opening the game's installed files through Steam won't take you to this location.

How to Find Your Moon Sweepers Save Files

The quickest method is to open the save folder directly using Windows Run.

  1. Press Windows + R on your keyboard.
  2. Copy the full save path shown above.
  3. Paste it into the Run window.
  4. Press Enter to open the MoonSessions folder.

You can also paste the path into File Explorer's address bar.

Windows will automatically replace %USERPROFILE% with your current Windows account directory, so there's no need to enter your username manually.

Finding the Folder Manually

If you'd rather browse to the folder yourself, open your Windows user directory and navigate through AppData, LocalLow, DragDropGames, MoonSweepers, and finally MoonSessions.

AppData is normally hidden in Windows. To make it visible, open File Explorer, select View, then enable Hidden items under Show on Windows 11.

Be sure you're looking in LocalLow, not Local or Roaming. Those are different directories, and the Moon Sweepers Steam configuration specifically points to LocalLow.

How to Back Up Your Moon Sweepers Save

Once you've located MoonSessions, creating a backup is straightforward.

  1. Close Moon Sweepers completely.
  2. Navigate to the MoonSweepers directory.
  3. Copy the entire MoonSessions folder.
  4. Paste it into another location, such as Documents or an external drive.
  5. Give the backup a recognizable name so you can identify it later.

I'd back up the entire folder rather than selecting individual files, especially before changing mods or moving to another computer.

To restore a backup, close the game, make a safety copy of your current MoonSessions folder, and then replace its contents with the saved copy. Launch Moon Sweepers afterward to check whether your previous session is available.

Moon Sweepers also has Steam Cloud file synchronization configured, but keeping a manual backup is worthwhile when you're protecting a large world or moving between PCs.

What If the Moon Sweepers Save Folder Is Missing?

If Windows says the location doesn't exist, try opening the parent directory instead:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\DragDropGames\MoonSweepers

Check whether MoonSessions appears inside it.

If the parent folder is missing too, make sure you're signed into the same Windows account used to play the game. Each Windows account has its own AppData directory.

You can also launch Moon Sweepers, create or load a session, exit normally, and check the location again.

If your saves are present but a particular world won't load, avoid deleting or renaming unfamiliar files. Patch 1.0.4 introduced automatic save backups and improvements for larger saves, so preserving the existing directory gives you more recovery options.

For most players, the only location you'll need is the MoonSessions folder under AppData\LocalLow\DragDropGames\MoonSweepers. You can open it directly through Windows Run, copy it for safekeeping, or use it when transferring your progress to another PC.
