Moon Sweepers What Does the Packager Do?

The Packager in Moon Sweepers turns dust collected with your cleaning tools into capsules that can travel along conveyor belts. Instead of carrying dust back to the Depot yourself, you can unload it into a Packager and have the capsules transported to your base or a processing machine.

It costs $100 and is available through the Building Tool's Logistics menu. However, the Packager doesn't collect dust automatically, and you'll need a connected conveyor belt to make proper use of it.

What Does the Packager Do in Moon Sweepers?

The Packager is essentially a transfer station for dust you've already collected. When you interact with it while carrying dust, it accepts your load and packages the material into capsules for transport.

Those capsules leave through the Packager's conveyor output. From there, you can send them directly to the Depot or route them through other machinery.

The important distinction is that the Packager handles material you've brought to it. It doesn't sweep the ground, send out cleaning robots, or increase the value of dust by itself.

For example, a basic setup works like this:

Collect Dust → Unload at Packager → Conveyor Belt → Depot

You still need to do the cleaning, but you no longer have to transport each load all the way back to your main base.

How to Get and Use the Packager in Moon Sweepers

You can purchase the Packager after unlocking the Building Tool, which costs $50. Open its Logistics category and select the Packager for $100.

Packager Setup:
  1. Purchase the Building Tool for $50.
  2. Open the Logistics section and purchase a Packager for $100.
  3. Place it near the area where you're collecting dust.
  4. Connect a conveyor belt to the Packager's output, pointing toward your destination.
  5. Extend the belt to the Depot's receiving intake.
  6. Collect some lunar dust with your brush and return to the Packager.
  7. Press E to interact with the Packager and unload your dust.
  8. Watch for the packaged capsules to leave on the conveyor belt.

If everything is connected correctly, the capsules should travel to the Depot, where their contents can be sold.

Start with a short conveyor route to test the setup. There's little reason to spend money on a long belt before confirming that the Packager is accepting dust and releasing capsules properly.

Where Should You Place the Packager?

The Packager is most useful somewhere between your active cleaning area and an existing conveyor route.

For instance, if you're cleaning far away from your main station, you can set up a Packager nearby and connect it back to the Depot. That lets you unload quickly and get back to sweeping while the conveyor handles transportation.

Placing it directly beside the Depot offers much less benefit if you're already carrying every load back to that location.

Try to leave enough space around the Packager for its conveyor output. You don't want to place it against an obstacle and discover that the outgoing belt has no convenient route.

Is the Packager Worth Buying in Moon Sweepers?

Yes, provided you have a reason to transport manually collected dust over a longer distance.

At $100, the Packager is relatively inexpensive compared to larger cleaning machines. It becomes useful when you're making frequent trips back to the Depot and want to establish a conveyor delivery route instead.

However, you don't necessarily need one for every automation setup.

Robot Vacuums already collect dust and package it into capsules at their docks. You can connect their outputs directly to conveyor belts without adding a separate Packager.

Likewise, if you're still cleaning immediately beside a Depot, unloading normally may be simpler than buying a Packager and constructing another conveyor.

Think of the Packager as a way to connect manual cleaning to a conveyor network, rather than something every factory must contain.

Packager vs. Pressure Chamber

These two machines serve different purposes.

  • Packager: Accepts collected dust and releases transportable capsules onto a conveyor.
  • Pressure Chamber: Processes Moon Dust into Moon Sand, which has a higher sale value than raw dust.

You can connect them together, with the Packager supplying dust capsules to the Pressure Chamber and another conveyor carrying the processed material away.

But the Packager itself doesn't increase dust value. If your goal is to earn more from the same quantity of dust, you need processing equipment rather than another Packager.

Moon Sweepers Packager Not Working Fix

If your Packager isn't sending out capsules, first determine whether it has actually received dust. A correctly placed machine with no material to package won't produce anything.

If you've already unloaded dust, check the conveyor connection next.

  • No capsules appear: Make sure you're interacting with the Packager while carrying collected dust.
  • Capsules appear but don't move: Check that the conveyor starts at the Packager's output and faces the correct direction.
  • Capsules stop at the end of the belt: Make sure the destination is properly connected.
  • Capsules arrive but you receive no money: Check the Depot's receiving intake and confirm you're running the latest update.
  • Capsules stop after adding more machinery: Inspect the next machine's input and output rather than assuming the Packager is broken.

Moon Sweepers Patch 1.0.3 also fixed issues involving conveyor deliveries and the Depot's payment system. If you're playing an older version, updating may resolve problems where delivered materials fail to receive the expected payment.

For a quick test, connect the Packager directly to the Depot with a short belt, unload a small amount of dust, and follow the capsule. This helps isolate the problem without rebuilding your entire production network.

Overall, the Packager is a useful early logistics upgrade for players who still clean manually but want to use conveyor belts. It won't collect or process dust for you, but it can eliminate much of the repeated travel between your cleaning area and the Depot.
