Phantom Blade Zero How to Get Bow

To get the bow in Phantom Blade Zero, you need to find the Ruthless Archer Camp near Sha-Chi Tower, speak to an injured archer, and return to the Outpost to collect the Feather Bow. It's the first Phantom Edge you can obtain, and you'll need it to shoot down objects marked with red bow icons. Although these targets appear early in the game, you must progress farther through the first region before you can acquire the weapon.

Where to Find the Feather Bow in Phantom Blade Zero

The Feather Bow is obtained through an encounter involving two archers in the game's first region. You'll need to reach the area around Sha-Chi Tower before returning to an earlier Outpost.

To reach the first archer, progress beyond the main Outpost and defeat the Axemaster. Continue toward Sha-Chi Tower until you approach the wooden bridge leading to the large structure.

Before crossing the bridge, look for a path climbing the hill on your left. This leads toward Ruthless Archer Camp, where you'll find another red bow symbol hanging from a tree.

Follow the path farther up to a bell near some stairs. The injured archer you need is inside a nearby wooden hut.

How to Unlock the Feather Bow

Finding Ruthless Archer Camp is only the first part of obtaining the weapon. The actual Feather Bow comes from a different character back at the Outpost.

  1. Progress through the first region, defeat the Axemaster, and travel toward Sha-Chi Tower.
  2. Before the wooden bridge, take the uphill path on the left to reach Ruthless Archer Camp.
  3. Find the wooden hut near the bell and speak with the wounded archer resting against the wall.
  4. Finish the conversation and receive the item he gives you.
  5. Return to the nearby bell and fast travel to the Outpost.
  6. Go down the steps toward the tree displaying a red bow icon.
  7. Speak with the man sitting on top of the building nearby. He'll thank you for finding the injured archer and give you the Feather Bow.

You can then use your newly acquired weapon to shoot down the object hanging from the nearby tree.

Which Archer Gives You the Bow?

There are two different characters involved, which can make this unlock confusing if you're expecting to receive the bow immediately at Ruthless Archer Camp.

Character Location and Purpose
Injured Archer Inside the hut at Ruthless Archer Camp. Speak to him first to obtain the item needed for the next interaction.
Outpost Archer Sitting on a building near the red bow marker. Speak to him afterward to receive the Feather Bow.

I'd use the bell at Ruthless Archer Camp as the return point once the first conversation is finished. It saves you from retracing the route through the region on foot.

Bells also let you save your progress. If you're unfamiliar with the system, our Phantom Blade Zero How to Save Guide

Why Can't You Use the Bow Yet?

If you're seeing red bow symbols but can't shoot anything down, you probably haven't obtained the Feather Bow yet.

Those markers appear before the weapon becomes available. They're indications of objects you can interact with using a bow, not proof that you've already unlocked one.

If you're having trouble finding the weapon, check where you are in the unlock process:

  • Still exploring the early Outpost: Continue through the region until you reach the area near Sha-Chi Tower.
  • Reached Sha-Chi Tower but found no bow: Look for the uphill path before the wooden bridge and locate Ruthless Archer Camp.
  • Spoke to the injured archer but received no bow: Return to the Outpost and speak to the archer on the building.
  • Returned to the Outpost but can't find the character: Search near the tree with the red bow icon, just down the steps.

The key is completing both conversations. Visiting the camp alone doesn't finish the weapon unlock.

What Does the Feather Bow Do?

The Feather Bow is your first Phantom Edge, a special weapon type that can be used during combat and exploration.

Its most immediately useful function is shooting objects marked by red bow icons, including items suspended from trees. This allows you to collect rewards you may have noticed earlier but couldn't reach.

Phantom Edges also have limited uses during combat encounters, so the Feather Bow isn't simply another unlimited-use ranged weapon.

Once you unlock it, I'd return to any nearby red bow markers you passed earlier. The Outpost provides an immediate opportunity to try the weapon, and you'll know what those symbols mean when you encounter them elsewhere.
